Transistor must be one of my favorite games. Upon launching the game, it strikes with its elegance and polish. As an example, the games goes the unconvetional path of omitting the use of a menu, a great idea, as it lets you get right into the action. Especially the level of animation underlines this elegance. But the real shine of the game is the combat system which presents a great amount of customizability. Notably the pace of a fight is refreshing since the game devides action into a relaxing planning phase and a hectic realtime phase. Another important aspect is the replayability the game offers through a mode called recursion (which I think is what the game is mostly about) and the difficulty customization the user has through so-called limiters, which, in my opinion, is the best way to solve the problem of creating difficulty levels in a game. As was the case with Bastion, the sound tracks in this game always hit, quite literally, the right note.
