An essay about why you should play with mouse accel:
You think you're comfortable with your sensitivity. You think things are 1:1 if you don't play with accel. That's not the case, mice implement angle-snapping, and blackbox systems to translate optical information into a length displacement at a very high rate (i.e., 1000Hz). There's no guarantees that this is good, correct, and it's also unlikely to be the same across mouse pads. So that argument is out the window... it's not "linear" no matter what.

You think you're a "low-sens" player. You're the one tapping around rocks and getting cheeky corner kills but somehow everyone is always behind you. You prefer to AWP and you're developing nearsightedness to adapt to the pixels on the 34" monitor that's 2" from your nose.

You think you're a "high-sens" player. You are all about the XM-meta. Unlike lowbie you boing boing around corners, and when you get tapped they're cheating.

Mouse acceleration is the middle ground. You are given a sort of "gesture" to make quick turns without ever running out of mousepad. You can hold a corner without any trouble, and trace the edge of D2 long for CT heads for fun. Mouse acceleration makes you flexible enough to do that, but also instantly react to double-doors no one was watching.

Mouse accel makes your mousing flexible. It's definitely harder, and may need to be adapted per-game per-map, but it's the way to play.
