In this day and age of remakes, no famous title can avoid a new and more modern version. Persona 3 Reload is a remake of the original Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3, which rose to fame on Playstation 2 consoles in 2006. Each remake is a big lottery bet, as the creators can't stick so closely to outdated mechanics that wouldn't appeal to younger generations. However, modernizing game mechanics in turn brings several risks. They may not sit well with the game as a whole or earn a lot of criticism from fans and the community. This is not the case with Persona 3 Reload. The game wonderfully combines both the original idea of the old Persona and brings new and refreshing ideas.

Welcome to Iwatodai, built by Kirijo Corporation. A decade ago, several experiments were conducted here that caused the creation of the "the dark hour" . It is the time between two days, or the 25th hour of the day. During this time, people are enclosed in coffins (asleep and not perceiving), and so have no awareness of the dark lot at all. Except on rare occasions when there is an awakening. Those who do awaken, however, are hunted by beasts known as shadows, whose victims end up in a catatonic state (referred to in the game as Apathy Syndrome). There is a small group of exceptional ones, however, who remain awake during this hour every day. Since your main character is one of the Exceptionals, he joins a "school club" called SEES, whose purpose is to hunt shadows.

The story of the game remains unchanged and is supplemented with additional elements that enliven the passage of this title. We thus have more interaction with the main characters and thus get to know them better. The main characters are well-drawn and, as in the original version, will grow on you.

The game mechanics are enriched with new and more enjoyable elements. I dare to say that the creators did not experiment in this matter and took the proven things they already have experience with from other Persona and other released titles.

Besides the great visuals created in Unreal Engine 4, you can also hear the remastered soundtrack. You'll enjoy good old music in better quality and as a bonus, Atlus decided to expand the soundtrack with additional tracks that fit in perfectly.

In all my time playing Persona 3 Reload, I didn't encounter any bugs and the game didn't crash once. Nowadays, you often buy a full version of a game that isn't finished, contains bugs, and you're waiting for additional content. That's not the case with this title, and I tip my hat to Atlus.
