I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love this game. Being set in the underworld of Greek Mythology, Hades makes up for the perfect scenario to develop family intrigues. Thus, in the name of Hades, we begin.

Hades starts during an 'escape attempt', as it is common for this kind of game and that already brings up so much of what makes this game great in my opinion; We are in such a familiar setting (no pun intended) there's no need for big conceptual introductions, from the first god we meet, to the eneimes, vast majority of characters and places, it's all pretty straightfoward, so from the very first run, we can appreciate all that makes this game awesome; it's amazing art, voice acting, music, and all the fun mechanics.

Before playing the game, I told to a friend of mine that I wasn't a big fan of the genre (rogue-like) but the art really brought my atteintion to this game, and boy oh boy, are the visuals in this game trully breathtaking. From the very interesting takes on well known characters to the scenario, it's all so well designed, colorful and fun to look at it, especially for a sprite-based game. If the gameplay was ♥♥♥♥♥♥, I'd still recommend it just for the visuals.

But of course, the game doesn't stop there! When you first hear the ominous yet calming voice of the narrator, you can already feel that alot of passion went into the voice acting of Hades. Every voice fits so well each character and their quirky personalities, many aspects are so unique in their portraits in this game; It all feels very natural, beutifully done.

Hades is also great at inovating within the limitations of characters and their relationships, considering they come from Greek Mythology, there are so many different takes in pop culture, from the old writtings of famed philosphers, to modern cartoons, movies and so on. Surely must be hard to think about an inovative way of portraing such overused myths and allegories. Nevertheless, Hades remains unique, with it's seeminly never-ending dialogue, which does wonders to the way the player views the characters, their correlations with the game's world. AND you can enjoy all of that, while having multiple eargasms listening to this game's extraordinary soundtrack!

THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER THINGS I LOVE ABOUT THIS GAME, I DON'T EVEN KNOW! I mean, how many games you can say "I love the training dummy, he is such a well devoleped and fun character to interact with" (I LOVE YOU, SKELLY!) And hat can be said about each and every character, but imagine those which their roles are more relavant to the plot, there's just so much to them.
Even if you play the game for the rogue-like aspect, dying, repeating and getting better at it, everything else serves as really fun background, but if the story interests you (I doubt it won't) there's a plethora of beautifully crafted relationships you can extract so much from. Methaphorical aspects of life and how we interact with each other, how we deal with our differences and our ego towards other people's interests, the world, everything around us, our existance, the concept of life and death, fate and the meaning of life.
There are many ways you can FEEL this game.

Talking about feelings, I never felt so compelled to 'GIT GUD' at a game before playing Hades. And that's coming from someone who didn't even like rogue-likes previous to playing Hades. And after beating the game, reaching the epilogue and getting all the achievements, I can safely say, I really enjoyed the overall gameplay experience. There are so many builds you can make, weapons, different play styles and aproachs to way you play, it's NEVER tiring, boring or anything that I personally used to expect from rogue-likes.

Hades is my favorite game, and I would recommend it to anyone that enjoys a great narrative, art, voice acting, soundtrack, gameplay and everything a masterpiece of a game can offer.

Good game overall, fun to play for a few hours when you're bored. It's especially nice if you like heavy metal, the tracks can get pretty hard. And it's cheap!
