You don't need to cheat on VAC secured server to get vac banned. U cheated on non-vac, so u have hacks on ur PC. when u go on vac secured server, even if theyre closed theyre on ur computer and they can be spotted by vac which bans u. or sometime it runs in the background but it isnt on so u get vac'd. Reference: I got vac banned on csgo for cheating on CS 1.6 because i forgot to close my cheats that only worked on cs 1.6 (cheatengine lul)
