Early Access Review
I got this as a gift when I didn't even play with the person that gifted this to me. 7 years later I build a PC for myself and got some great buds who played along with me. On and off for 2 years, there's ALWAYS something new to look forward to with each patch. My characters are consistently clumsy to trip and die.

:') I swear I'm okay, I love this game.

Truly get this game and host a dedicated server to run it for anyone to join in at any time. Boat loads of fun.

I do and I don't recommend this game.. It's an "I'm impressed, don't love it" relationship, as I have mixed feelings since I completed the main story and then some to obtain the achievements. The style and understanding of the dev team putting this much effort into a story, seriously great.

If you're looking for an in between games pick-me-up, you love those kitchen sims, by all means. You appreciate small devs creating a game showcasing the entire teams assets into one game, buy the game. You love dark, gore, and old England times. Buy the game. There is no fault into a roughly 4~8 hour game.

You want replay value on top of it's story and game play, this, this is where I can't see it happening. I read that someone said it was slow paced enough to obtain each skill and bracket of things the game offers and with enough saving and what sounded like money assets first-- It was easy to burn through the skills before the outfits. By the time I reached end game, not only did I really not feel fulfilled, it's just "oh that's the entire story". And yes, there're other reviews that went into depth about this and I still bought the game. For that reason I say, I'm impressed, but I'm not in love with the game. I do hope for more in the future or more games from the developers.

Recommended for the cozy gamers!

It's definitely a quick game that you can burn in no time, given my time of 5 hours. However, if you're the type who likes storytelling games and displayed in a different manner, I find this to be up your alley. The game is heavily reliant on inferring about the events that happens between moving into each room. So phases through life, relationships, school, and being on your own. You'll find it here.

There's nothing intensive about the game and there will be items you're not certain belongs where, but it's the beauty of organization. Albeit not the way we would in real life. A lot of repeated items will appear and if you zoom in you can kinda make out some Easter eggs of gaming consoles and book covers. These can help you decipher what bundles up with what. Most items are unpacked in the correct place to begin with, to some exceptions in other places. But the game doesn't expand rooms immediately, so take your time!

Again I recommend it if you're a cozy kinda gamer. It's my first run and I'll probably return just to 100% the discoverable items.

Please know this game was created with the Nintendo Switch in mind.
This review is in part on addressing the surface 'No Recommendation' reviews of the game. My review 'so far' at the end.

I don't think a lot of the reviews knew VoC was announced through the Nintendo Direct 3rd Quarter video release. Later, was offered for PC purchase before the official release. I was fully aware this game may not look the best on PC being placed at 1080p - 60 fps. I'm usually on my PC more than I am on my Switch, hence this purchase and this review.

I'm not sure why anyone is expecting top notch work for this game, it's not one of Square Enix's bigger franchises. Also, just because we have game releases of multiple choices does NOT equate to story shift. This is just an homage game to the old school RPGs in the format of a table top DM to Player. If that's not your thing, don't buy this game.

To be honest, this feels like a game that is in release to test the waters on how else to view RPGs and a tie over for other Square Enix major releases.

My take on the game so far, it's a really pretty game and immersive for me, the background music and narrator is really warming and cozy to go through the game straight through. YES, THERE IS A LOT OF RANDOM ASS ENCOUNTERS. To reiterate this game feels to be an homage to old school RPGs that's random encounters, grinding, and rerunning monsters or encounters to collect things. The main character is a money grubby person. A set personality isn't the norm, but it's a change of pace from the blank slate. You're given 2-3 line options to respond for voice.

As for game mechanics, there isn't any room to tell you anything about dice rolls, but put 2 and 2 together. They're usually rolls to 1) add on to a base damage 2) be the set damage or 3) the success of an effect. Otherwise, it's your average turn base game.

-- I do hope to revisit the review for an endgame recap.
