It still could be - but rendering all your gear and progression (except for gold and these "artifacts", which are super useless) useless by simply crossing the border to a new biome/area on the map is killing it for me.

If you are OK with repeating the same stuff (a lot of walking simulation included, because you will also lose your ability to ride your pet as you "progress") over and over again within a changing and basically beatiful landscape: buy it.
If you also feel that taking achievements away from a player for no aparent reason is bad gamedesign: don't even think about it.

I hope this gets patched. But lets be honest... Alpha release, 5+ years of nothing, rushed out release and again: silence from the devs. I guess thats it :/
