TL;DR, Rimworld is goated. Go play it now

The best way I could describe my experience with Rimworld is that it's a constant learning lesson about having fun even at a losing scenario. I'm a gamer who likes to make cool, big bases with a thriving community while facing great challenges every now and then. Rimworld gives you that, but it also hits you so hard no matter what you do you cannot turn the tide in your favor. No matter how well you master the mechanics of this game, you will lose, and you'll learn to cope with it. But that's just speaking for the challenging difficulties, you could play at a more casual level with little to no conflict whatsover, but where's the fun in that anyway?

The game is great, but I hate the fact that there are 58 adoptable animals locked behind DLC paywall (61 if you count deluxe edition) and that's about as many as the base game offer, but at triple the price. I know the DLCs also include new scenery objects alongside, but it makes no sense to charge triple the base game price to unlock that many animals, it's a total cash cow. What's worse is that Frontier Development continues to expand that list as of today. At this rate there will be more animals locked behind overpriced paywalls than the base game offers.

Posted a more detailed review for the remastered version. This game aged terribly. Get Sniper Elite 3 or 4 instead.

TLDR; This game aged terribly. Get Sniper Elite 3 instead.

To add a bit of depth to my review, here are some points I observed while playing:

+Satisfying and kickass X-ray camera effect! The major selling point for the series.
+Interesting story.

-Awful level design. Most levels are non-linear and that's good, but some areas are inaccessible because of invisible walls. There are LOTS of invisble walls. And the floor is sometimes wonky to navigate.
-Enemy AI is very dumb and the animations are rough and janky, especially during combat.
-Difficulty is not fun and often frustrating because of janky AI behavior. Not worth trying at the highest difficulty.
-Cover system sucks most of the time.

The most recent update brought up interesting new content as well as new players with the christmas sales, but it also removed the option to change teams and there is no balancing system whatsoever. I often see teams getting super stacked and the match finishes in less than five minutes because the games does not balance each team, and the devs, for some reason, thought it was a good idea to remove team switch. This shows how this game is so off course in development and the devs take one step forward and two steps back with trying to make things better. Before the christmas update, this game was mostly dead in the water and I won't be surprised when it goes back that way in a few months. The developers need to step it up a notch and improve their game.

Prey is Arkane Studios' followup on Bioshock/System Shock motif of mixing FPS with RPG elements, while delivering great innovations and an intriguing though kind of vague story alongside from start to finish. The difficulty curve can get quite steep on specific points througout the game, but the gameplay is mostly fun.

The only downside I have for this game is that it needs better optimization. Otherwise very fun game with very interesting game mechanics!

TLDR; This game lacks a lot of polish

The gameplay is quite compelling, but there are so many issues that overshadow the fun this game tries to give.

The point out the major issues so far:

-Lots of missing audio cues (sound designer here).
-Shopping cart is always limited to 7 slots. It becomes rather hindering to purchase resources late game.
-The economy is unbalanced and grindy. I mostly get small services that pay little for a late game pace, even less specifically for melting damascus steel.
-The magic table is kind of broken. It works at 50/50 rng value...
-The cauldron is just an inconvenience at its current state. The resources are expensive for the economy and cart cap makes it worse to get all I need in one purchase.

I think this game has a lot of potential but it really needs better polish to be at its full.

Still holds up well like fine wine but It's worth the discount price to dive into the chaos in the few dozen active servers that range from america, germany and hong kong.

I want to headline this to all who are interested in Barotrauma: playing with friends is guaranteed fun, simply. You can't go wrong with gathering a group of friends and play Barotrauma. I dare say it's worth the full price if you manage to get that checked in. As for the key game modes: Single player is lacking but improving at every update. Public Multiplayer is rough yet enjoyable at times, but I don't recommend you buy Barotrauma at full price solely for the public multiplayer experience, it's not worth it.

As of now, the game received two recent updates that are making substantial improvements to the game overall, with rusted remnants update being the highlight. The campaign is the weakest aspect so far but the update roadmap expresses greater updates to come in the future. That's great! I was feeling worried about the devs feature creeping and doing less updates like other early access games, but I'm relieved from that concern for now. I think they're doing a great job updating the game, and I'm eager to explore the upcoming updates.
