It strikes a nostalgic chord for its art and visuals, and unlocking the secrets throughout the world are consistently rewarding. Progression is tough, but feels earned with each puzzle solved. This game is an onion, with the layers going ever deeper. This is one to tell your friends about.

Great pixel art, engaging systems. Good balance of idle and choice. Easy to keep running with half an eye on it.

Spelunky is a unique combination of challenge, surprise, and triumph. As the rules reveal themselves to you, you get better, and over time come to understand the world and its amazing dynamics. Every death is fair, in that it played by the game's rules, and as you escape death, or set a new high score, the game never fails to deliver. With its Daily Challenge system, the game is infinitely competitive and replayable. I'll probably never stop.
