Excellent in every aspect, cannot recommend this enough! Been playing since the early beta and it has come a long way and--so far--all positive changes / additions!

This is by far the best Minecraft mod I have ever played. It really needs some Applied Energistics integration, though.

Joking aside, it is amazingly smooth and a fantastic experience. The mobs are kind of annoying, the space-whale-tick-thing keeps wandering through my production lines, which is more funny than obnoxious. I have high hopes for future updates, but really find this satisfactory in every way.

A game with so much potential that was released with bare features and no updates. Has a few bugs, but honestly you'll find better and more engaging games for free on almost any platform. I would think with a bit of work it could be great, but it is apparent that will never happen.

I've wanted to like this game for almost an entire year now. However, I still cannot recommend it to anybody for any price. Even if it were free, I would not play it. I DESPERATELY wanted to like this game and support the devs, but it is an absolute train wreck. The game is exactly like the launch of No Man's Sky. I could post more detailed critiques, but everyone on Reddit gives the exact same critiques I would, so I'll not waste your time.

Absolutely fantastic. Unfortunately short, but it is a few hours long and one of the most fun games of this nature I've played before. Definitely worth the three dollars.

I do not like to give negative reviews, but I had a few things that bothered me. It was short--but I expected that. It was difficult to tell when the main character was talking at first, which led to some confusion. The story did not interest me at all until about halfway through and, even then, I only was able to muster up a cursory at best interest.

It pains me to put down writing in general, especially of smaller teams, but it was decidedly bland and unengaging.

This game was very well done, with an interesting twist on the choice system. I liked the writing, though occasionally it came across as a bit smutty. At a few points it felt like it had a lot of (fairly tasteful) sex and not a whole lot of story. Over-all, though, it was a fantastic read.

I really wanted to like Visual Novel Maker. I met with the company at Anime Expo 2017 and it sounded exciting. Unfortunately, I got software that was buggy, inefficient, and in no way an upgrade from the alternatives out there (that I have tried).

The first thing I did was fire up the test game. There I found my first complaint. Even compiled, the game only progresses when you click the text box rather than anywhere on the screen, which is fairly odd. There is very likely a work around to this, however.

Some things are easier on this than RenPy--such as adding animation to sprites and filters to backgrounds and images, but even that only saves you an extra thirty seconds--maybe up to four minutes if you aren't familiar with RenPy's script. The only thing this has that RenPy doesn't already have and do better is the Live 2D support, which you can work around easily enough.

Immediately afterward, I began to work on piecing together a few test scenes to test out every feature I could. I cannot help but compare to RenPy, my current engine of choice.

Compared to RenPy, if you spend a day or two figuring it out, or just use their extremely well-documented forums, this is only going to save you a marginal amount of time in the set-up (defining resources and characters). The real time-deficit would be during the actual writing. It takes significantly longer to add in and construct messages, which is ultimately where you will spend the majority of your time.

Furthermore, the Live Preview did not consistently display what it should. Sometimes it would, sometimes after no changes and some clicking around, it would not. Probably the worst was that the Live Preview crashed completely for me several times.

*I would like to see perhaps a keyboard shortcut to adding text more quickly
*An option to import all their underwhelming artwork into your current project for placeholders
*More reliable Live Preview
*Easier sprite movement / scaling (I may have just missed this, but I'd think it would be best to move in the Live Preview window, if it worked)
*Clicking on non-UI buttons advancing the text
*Seemed to lack a UI builder and other features I would have expected

There may be more, but at that point I decided it was not going to do what I had wanted of it and would be a sharp downgrade from the Free RenPy.

Much of this may change with time, but as it is now, at release, I am sorely disappointed.

This game was funny and fun. I can't say it was particularly a quality game, in some senses of the word, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'd highly recommend it for a goofy off-beat adventure any day. The story was interesting and captivating, though the puzzles weren't particularly difficult. My only complaint was the one or two times I got stuck during the game, I ended up clicking spastically at everything on the screen until I happened to click just the right spot and find that item I had been missing. Not sure that's exactly a down-side to this type of game, it just felt that some of the items were hidden "in plain sight".

I hate to be the one to give a bad review. I just wanted... more. I beat it 100% in two hours, 98% of it was repeating the same sentences with different choices to see one or two lines of dialog differing. The first read through was great (though, it only took me about ten minutes). After that, I decided to see what else I could do--turns out, not much.

It was paced such that it felt about right in length for the topic, I suppose. I can't think of anything that would have made it much longer without adding fluff or changing the scene, but once you've read through it, you haven't missed much by skipping the rest. Unless you dash out at the start of your first play through.
