Post Sony response. Game is still mid and over hyped imo. However, Sony reverted the change and no longer requires a PSN account. Eat a bag of ♥♥♥♥♥ Sony but thanks for reverting it.

Original review:
Game's ok. PSN account needed when I don't own a Playstation nor intend to? I'd love nothing more than for my data to be yoinked this time next year when Sony is inevitably breached again. No thanks.

So as an avid AC fan and a VR user I was disappointed how the VR missions remained exclusive to AC:7. However, this beautiful gem of a game exists.

Gameplay:
Outstanding. There's actually a sense of difficulty. In AC I could use the starter craft throughout the entire game and be fine. Some difficulty sometimes sure but certainly doable. In this game, it makes you know when you should probably upgrade. On top of that, this games version of 'Ace' difficulty adds new enemies to the fray, buffs their AI and makes the first missions more difficult. My only complaint is that HOTAS isn't immediately supported. You have to manually bind everything first with a HOTAS. I had a controller handy and the VR was enough for immersion.

Speaking of which,
VR:
The way the game runs in VR is actually smooth enough to not induce motion sickness. Each cockpit feels different and there's even a button to recenter you in the seat in case you get too far from the center. My only complaint here is that none of the interior gauges work. Which is easily overlooked since its purely cosmetic.

Soundtrack:
Superb. I found myself performing maneuvers to the songs that play throughout the game. Just as good, if not better, than Ace OST.

Story:
Its aight. Better than AC:7 but not as good as AC:4/5

Price to content:
Buy it. Its a solid piece of art for any Ace fan.
