Early Access Review
This is such an incredible game, I can't imagine absolutely insane level of complexity there must be going on behind the scenes to procedurally generate such rich and through cases. You will be a detective, this game REQUIRES you to think like one. There is no handholding, nothing but the information in the world to lead you to your objective. Really a triumph in environmental storytelling in my opinion, there isn't really much else out there comparable.

Since this is an early access game, there are some minor gripes here and there. Some NPCs will get bugged and stuck in a loop, I had a case where a cop was guarding the apartment and if he ever walked in he would never leave unless I myself walked out of the apartment, pretty annoying when I'm trying to gather evidence but I don't doubt this could be fixed. As well, performance is really inconsistent, I'll get 100 fps in some interiors, meanwhile going outside will drop the FPS to 40. A bit surprising considering the graphic style, I would expect this game to be much more CPU heavy than it is GPU heavy but it's not at all.

Still, nothing that can't be ironed out. The game itself is so incredible, really worthwhile for any gamer that detests modern hand-holding game design.

I bought this to play with my girlfriend and co-op was beyond buggy for us. Whether or not that's because of our different regions I don't know but what I do know is that I contacted support about it and they told me themselves the issue was solved in the last patch. Which... it had not been. Game just inevitably soft locks at some point during battle for us. A shame because it's fun when it works, but it's fundamentally broken.

This game sucks ♥♥♥♥ LOL. I will never get hyped for another game again, in a way I have to thank CDPR for releasing such a horrendous piece of ♥♥♥♥ product so that I can never have expectations for a game again. I don't get hyped, I wasn't hyped, all I wanted was what they promised. But regarding what we have here, it's almost a scam.

There is no roleplaying, at all. CDPR removed all mentions of RPG on their Cyberpunk website after release.. so how can this not be a scam? I expected ANY sense of roleplaying, but no there's literally nothing here. You get to pick the first two hours of the game, that is it. The origins mean nothing, you get some conversation options based on them which literally amount to ♥♥♥♥ all. Somehow this game has a worse dialogue system than FALLOUT 4.

The police are... unacceptable. GTA 3 had better police and this is not even an exaggeration. Police spawn behind you eternally and cannot chase you in cars because get this.. there is no car AI. That's right, none of the cars react to you, if you park in front of them they will be stuck, not even attempt to drive around you. Cars will literally cause their own traffic jams simply by trying to turn left.

The loot is ♥♥♥♥♥♥, and so is the gunplay. Loot consists of marginal stat increases in weapons and armor, and there's way too much of it, leading you to feel compelled to pick up absolutely everything. Unironically I've never played a game with such unsatisfying loot, there is no point to any of it, ESPECIALLY the crafting, until you get to end game, which btw is a total joke.

You cannot customize anything, you cannot interact with anything. If you speak to a food vendor they will say "WHO THE ♥♥♥♥ ARE YOU". Food vendors that you can access don't carry the food they have in front of them. NPCs have no schedule, you cannot do anything with them, and to top it off their AI is braindead. If you shoot, they run for a little then crouch on the ground forever, that's it. NPC's will despawn and respawn just by turning your camera in a circle. This is basic in world interactions that somehow CDPR has failed to provide. Nothing about this game world feels real or lived in, it's all smoke and mirrors. And I understand that's literally all game design, but this game misses the mark so hard in every sense I cannot believe it was released in the state it's in.

I'm not even gonna mention bugs because while they are mostly gamebreaking, they can be fixed. However, the core design choices implemented in this game will never be fixed. It makes me angry to think the bugs are going to take away focus from the god awful game design because everyone should be aware of just how awful the game is.

This is a bad game, lets make no mistake about it. Not only do I feel scammed, I feel like an idiot for believing even for a second CDPR would deliver considering the end product we have today. Looking back, none of what they said seemed all too crazy. A sim like world with good cop AI? GTA has done that for decades. Actually meaningful roleplay decisions? Fallout New Vegas came out 10 years ago.. This game is nothing but a mishmash of game design choices already done better years ago, yet haphazardly thrown into this dead world of Cyberpunk merely as window dressing. Everything in this game was done better years ago.

Do not buy it. Notice how I did not mention the story, because it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid and unremarkable. Even lovely Keanu can't save this god awful piece of ♥♥♥♥.

Never played the original half-life, but this was a great experience that fits right in with HL2, hell it looks MUCH better than HL2 in a lot of areas. My only complaint is the performance, which at times can drop below 60FPS on my 2070. I realize the Source engine has it's limitations, especially in the Xen portion of the game where it's a very large map, but even with that in mind a 250 frame drop from 300 to 50 is incredibly jarring. I hear this is pretty different from HL1 so even if you've played the original this one is definitely still worth playing.

The future of VR without a doubt in my mind. The amount of emergent gameplay opportunities presented to the player through the physics based engine is easily comparable to the opportunities presented by the source engine in Half Life 2. It's that revolutionary. It's an entirely new way to experience VR worlds, and it feels so natural and such an obvious evolution of the tech that I'm not sure how it took this long to get something like this (Blade and Sorcery is similar and of course nice but the devs don't seem to see the same future in their engine like Stress Level Zero does with Boneworks) A must play for anyone interested in VR.

9/10 a shining gem in a sea of indie games

do you enjoy rouge-like games such as binding of issac, or crypt of the necrodancer?
well then just buy this game immediatly because nuclear throne is one of the best of its kind.
even as an early-access title this game plays as though its been polished out the arse with content, graphics and sound

the game plays as a top down shooter with enough depth and difficulty to make your eyes pop out of your skull
there are 50+ guns each with unique mechanics
there are 12 characters each one with a unique special ability or bonuses to help you
and trust me you WILL need help with this game

the game is very very difficult and not for the faint of heart
it will make you mad and it will frustrate the hell out of you but you can never get mad at the game because the game never throws anything unfair at you
almost always it wil be your fault that you died
but everytime you just need to accept it and start again

the game has daily runs, which is a map that isnt procedurally generated, so everyone plays the same version
the longer you go the higher you go up on the leaderboards, which adds a competative aspect to the game and an incentive to get better

the game also has a background story which can be very interesting to some
its a post-apocalyptic sci-fi wasteland dystopian world that can lead to a lot of lore
and it shines very well through the sound design and art style of nuclear throne.

for 13 dollars i could not recommend a better game
and as it is in early access its only going to get better and better which is a very good thing for a game like this

2/10 get your ♥♥♥♥ together bohemia
like many i bought this game thinking it would be better or at least become better than the mod
well its been a year and a half and i'd like to know what my money when to because it definitely doesnt show in this game

the engine is terrible, bohemia got lazy and just used the arma 2 engine the mod was based on
the arma 3 engine would have been a much better choice for this game, because as it stands the arma 2 engine is clunky, unintuitive and very glitchy
seriously this game can get so frustrating at times with its cryptic controls and glitchy menus

zombies are boring, and offer little challenge
just run away, they cant do anything but chase you for a bit before getting bored
and most of the time you'll be running to another city because spawns are almost always on ♥♥♥♥♥♥ costal cities
running is literally the name of the game here, because this map is HUGE and to get anywhere with good loot you need to run quite a bit from the usual spawn cities
drivable cars are nonexistant, which is a huge shame as even the mod had cars so get used to running if you want to have any "fun" in this game

if you are a regular gamer who enjoys having fun in games that offer fun, this game isnt for you.
this game doesnt offer fun, it gives you tools to create your own fun, but as the game stands right now those tools just arent there yet.

dayz is a concept which had plenty of promise, but bad lazy developers killed anything that could have come out of it.

if you want zombie survival, go look somewhere else, because this game has been pretty much abandoned by its lead developer dean hall.

absolutely not worth my money

MORE CONTENT PLEASE
theres like 12 guns in total and some catagories dont even have any guns
also we're missing sharpshooter and i think one other class.
i understand its an early access title but with such missing content i don't think it's worth the 30 dollars they are asking
and theres one boss, which makes each game just play out the same and it makes the game get stagnant after a while
but in the future i expect the game to be a very fine successor to killing floor

better graphics, updated vo, new gun and melee mechanics are where this game stands out currently
hopefully they finish the game before they start selling dlc which this game is definitly going to be full of considering the original killing floor
a very prospective game but currently i would save my money and buy the original

Game's pretty fun with friends. Other than that there's not much to it. It gets really repetative and boring unless you like a grinding style game. The method of getting attachments is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid, relying on RNG to get anything good just makes you repeat levels over and over and for what? So those same levels get easier? Big Oil is really the only heist that has any semblance of difficulty on overkill and thats only because it requires actual teamwork. Also stealth is hilariously difficult to do, and most of the time it's bugs that cause you to ♥♥♥♥ up a stealth run. And the stealth tries to be realistic but ends up lacking quite a bit. How does wearing bulletproof armor that is illegal (but most people wouldn't know it's illegal) versus a suit make you more likely to get caught, if people see you sneaking around in a locked building in either they will sound an alarm on both. But if you are looking for a co-op game to play with friends then I really can't recommend any other game. It's fun, and that's really all there is to it. There's no real strategy, and no real corret way to play the game which is one thing I like. Also it seems like nearly every gun is viable which makes me think how great of a job overkill did on the balancing of them. Overall its an ok game with not really much depth to it but can make for a really fun experience with friends. 7/10
