While this game definitely has the "small firm indie game" feel to it it does quite a lot right by way of using clean storyboards instead of cutscenes, introducing some "slow to react" inertia based movement, creating an immersive atmosphere, etc.. I'm eager to see where the developer takes this game and how they grow the franchise.

Don't expect a $120 AAA title and you'll fine you get WELL more than you $15-20 worth from this game.

This game is HORRIBLY unbalanced. I spent HOURS trying to find one book or survivor that can update a critical base station that's needed to progress only to have two juggernauts spawn beside my base and rip apart half my survivors. Any damage you do to special infected is replenished if you don't kill them on the spot so I wasted all my resources protecting my base fighting this pair TWICE only to have more special infected spawned on top of me. I've only ever uninstalled a game twice in my life.. this makes the third. Pure ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

While the game itself isn't polished there are quite a lot of moded servers these days that are lots of fun. As expected with most online only games, its better with friends. If you plan to play go download the Dayz Standalone Launcher (DZSAL) which will automatically download and configure all mods for you (link below) and join random servers until you find a feel you like.

This game is a whirlwind of never-ending toxicity. The game itself is great but the community is the absolute worst.

Never have I ever seen a deer get shot in the face four times and run away...

Felt a bit short... but I had plenty of time to complete all the side missions with a few days to spare. I actually perfered this more than the second.

Some helpful info:
-Combos are plentiful (I think i only got half on my first playthrough)
-AI is still a bit retarded but survivors are more rhobust
-A couple of the boss fights are OP... one leaves you fighting the "boss" with only base weapons and forces you to finsih before you die in a spreading fire. (♥♥♥♥ that in general)
-The weapons stash feels a bit cheaty... but you need it for some missions

If you plan to buy this game It's best to wait until it's on sale.. considering it's 2.5 years old and still $30. >_>

If you liked the original, buy it. If you've never played it and it looks interesting, buy it!
