This game is really fun and was one of the reasons why I picked up a VR set (prior to the release of the flat "Vikings on Tour" mode). Rocking out to folk/power metal and similar genres is just great, and racing against other people or against ghosts does add a fun bit of competitiveness. But it's also just easy to vibe to smashing drums all the way to Valhalla. If nothing else, crushing some runes to metal music is a good way to unwind. The soundtrack's pretty good, the DLC's good, and there's also a sizable custom song community if that's not enough for you.

The aesthetics of this game are quite charming and gorgeous at the same time. I wish we get a way to just cruise through the maps without playing music since some of the zones look really nice but it's harder to appreciate while keeping your combo up. The low-poly viking avatar is cute and it's fun to see other vikings wave their hands in multiplayer lol. On that note the community is pretty small but seems pretty nice, seeing much of the same names on the top of the leaderboards as in random multiplayer sessions and also chatting on the Discord.

The devs seem pretty active and responsive too; seeing them interact with their playerbase fairly often on their Discord. They do read feature suggestions, bug reports, and just have fun with their players, which is always a good sign. One recent example is how the release of the flat mode demo caused some people to experience save file corruption, to which the devs responded by adding options to retrieve score and medal data from the online leaderboards.

Overall I really just enjoy this game and the soundtrack. I (affectionately) blame this game for introducing me to Wind Rose, Feuerschwanz, and a lot more. And I rest assured that the devs and the playerbase for this game will keep the game active for a long time to come.
