A pretty solid puzzle game, as well as some pondering on humanity.

While the puzzles are decent, there are a few negatives:
a) Many of them were easier than I would have liked. I would have preferred another puzzle per area on the level of the gold puzzles, and maybe removing one or two of the easier ones.
b) While each area having its own mechanic was interesting, there was little combination of multiple elements from different zones. Combined with a), it felt like there were a lot of possibly interesting unions that were absent.
c) The zones are beautiful (and have some interesting stuff to work on) but are a little on the large side - it felt like I spent more time running around outside of the puzzles than in them, again related to a).

Overall I'd say a good 4/5 (although I can see it being less if you didn't enjoy the meta-narrative), definitely worth the time spent.

One part colouring book, one part progress bar simulator, with a dash of white noise. Also something about cats?

A nice island to puzzle about. Nothing crazily complicated, but careful note-taking will help a lot. While you can take pictures and notes in-game, you can't look at them while doing things, so an IRL notebook is a good idea, also for scribbling diagrams and connections.

A nice little Punnett square based bee breeding/hybridising sim. Feels a lot like Slime Rancher (albeit at a smaller scale), but a focus on the actual cross-breeding and stats of the bees. Feels like it has a few pacing issues - some of the later hybrids can be more tedious than exciting for instance - but nothing overly onerous.

Overall, a lot of your enjoyment will be tied to how interested you are in creating your own target hybrid bees and the statistics that come with that. But for that, it's worth a look.

A very worth alternative to Factorio, if only just for the incredible sense of scale. Plenty of similarities, but enough differences to distinguish it.

Fun overall. Main story line and combat can get a little dull, but the sidequests and general atmosphere is great.

Poke at systems to see how they work. Find out why those systems exist in the first place. Get the ocean willies and curse at anglerfish. Then tie everything together, and go play a song around a campfire.

As with other Zachtronics games, the goal is to find a solution, not the solution as in many other puzzle games; the massive range in the solution efficiencies attests to this. Going back and significantly beating your previous solution is a wonderful feeling.
