Download the MGSHD Fix, you can find the link to it on a Nexus mod post under the MGS3 section (for the entire master collection). It adds a config file that lets you edit your native resolution and such.

Great game, great port, just doesn't have simple things like editing your sound volume in game, or changing your native resolution in game, and isn't 1080p in teh least. It is 720p. So that is really my only strife but even then I still love this game and the port is fine outside of those missing fundamentals. Of course audio is more of a fundamental than playing in borderless windowed but you take what you can get I suppose.

Either way, SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE!

Underrated and overlooked. Quite simply this game is the AC Unity of Batman games. And I mean that in the best possible way. People are quick to bully and devalue the game's devs yet this is actually a really fun game. I played this alongside a buddy and outside of the RE4 remake this is probably the most fun game I've played all year so far. While it says I have four hours on Steam at the time of this review, I have more from the game pass. But even so, this is enough playtime to say what I'm saying. Any problems people had, are so minor that they were fixed.


The game is cross platform.
It supports cross-progression.
It is co-op. Not JUST that, it's FOUR PLAYER COOP.
I mean seriously, name a game with 4 player coop that isn't AC Unity or Left 4 Dead, or Dead Island? I'll wait, you gotta think about that one. Let's be honest. Good game, very nice, very fun. Get it, find it on sale though cos it's a steal and it goes on sale a lot. Don't miss out on the discount! Either way, have fun!(:

So far I have played all of the aforementioned, and this game. Kiwami 2 is my favorite.
Yakuza 4 is my second favorite. Akiyama, Tanimura, Kiryu, Haruka, Date, are all fantastic characters. Same with Saejima. I really feel like if you are looking for people to fill that void left behind from Nishki and S. Kazuma, then, you will love this game. I suggest you really do just play through these games chronologically, and also the game engine is a lot better than 3. I actually thoroughly enjoyed the fighting on this one (outside of one particular character, I shall not mention, find out yourself!).

Definitely a fan favorite of mine. Thank you Sega. ♥

I'm going to be completely honest, if you came from Kiwami 2 like me, assume it has Dead Rising 1 movement, and expect nothing more than a mid combat system with a great story, then this falls within your expectations.

I am also going to remain completely honest with all of you; I cheated. YES, it's true. I cheated, OK!
For the first time, I played this game using a one hit kill. YEP! I know! Sue me! There's a big reason for this.
I really. Really. From the bottom of my heart, dislike this combat system. I dislike the movement. It is not fluid. The way Yakuza combat is build relies on fluidity and a lot of movement, the quickstep moves you less than a normal footstep would, the character movement makes you feel like a roblox character and the fighting feels so subpar I feel like I'm punching a pillow full of marshmellows.

But the story is fantastic. The kids are hilarious. The fat kid is my favorite, and Izumi is cute with her doge Mame, the nerdy kid in the green shirt is funny, there's a ton of loveable characters here for you. The fact they let you play whole chapters just focusing on the orphanage is fantastic. I adore it a lot, it's so sweet and makes me look forward to the idea of having a kid LOL. That's how much it captivates you. So if you're here for story like me, now you might understand why I used said one hit kill cheat, just so I could get through this game's clunkyness and remain entertained by what is the real focus here, its narrative.

And to be honest? I loved it. Certain things I can't comment on, even if I generalize and point to a specific section without being specific on what that section entails, it will spoil, so I won't say anything else.

Start with Yakuza 0, play Kiwami 1, then 2, then this.

And enjoy 4. Cos I don't think you will feel the same way about 3 as you do 4, it will only get better from here, in terms of gameplay! Story wise, amazing, enjoy it! Oh, and don't listen to those kids online who tell you this game sucks and overly critique it, none of them probably played ps2/ps3 and if they did they really are just hating for no good reason. All non spoiler pros and cons were addressed which were the main focus for all the hate this game got. So like me, make your own judgment.

PSA: Start with Yakuza 0. Don't ask questions.
Don't worry, no spoilers are present.
Yakuza Kiwami 2, a remake of Yakuza 2.
I am speaking after just having had beaten Yakuza 3's remaster.
Arguably the best game I have experienced. The graphics, the integretation of fight mechanics in real world travel, you run around, the fight transitions are nearly seamless and you can kick and punch mopeds and other environmental props into enemies, and they do a LOT of damage. They're also very satisfying, to do that with, instead of just picking up and doing a normal light/heavy with. You can also throw someone through a store's glass window if it's a human sized one.

There's a plethora of reasons as to why Kiwami 2 is the best so far. The villain also reminds me of Laxus from Fairy Tail. You will see why. Majima is back and he's better than ever. They also gave Majima some game time in this where you can play as him, I would suggest saving these 3 chapters until the end of the game. It's a good cherry on top.

The story strayed a little toward the middle and felt a bit dragged, but overall? I loved it, through and through, when you get to the end, that straying and dragged out story makes much more sense.

Overall this is a solid 9.5/10 because nothing's perfect and the transitions from combat to free roam aren't 100% seamless like Spider-Man Remastered's intro where Spidey jumped outta his bedroom window and immediately you could start swinging. It is more like you get confronted, 1 second later you can start punching. But you can visibly tell there is a step before the transition, which is acknowledgment of the enemy being there. Them noticing and chasing you is seamless ASF though. But that comes natural when you are roaming and a random Yakuza sees you on the street.

I only wish and this is a personal thing; that they made it so people fear you more on the streets instead of test you constantly. But I know it's a game mechanic to compensate XP for necessary stat upgrades to survive later in the game.
Other than that it's pretty solid. And I would say the above to all the Yakuza games I've played thus far in terms of that personal thing.

Solid game, worth all the praise AND THEN SOME!

This game's story sets up the rest of the franchise. You get introduced to long term characters.
Once you play it, you will know who, is long term; as to not spoil anything.

Play this after Yakuza 0. And start with Yakuza 0.
Kiwami 1's story is cool, but it's nothing that moved me. I look at steam reviews, to go from Yakuza 0's "Overwhelmingly Positive" to Kiwami 1's "Very Positive" I thought something had to be slightly not as good, and honestly? Everything was just good, not great, not bad, just good. It was substantial, it was moderate, average; but in a GOOD way. It was just not captivating like 0's story was, again; it just sets up the rest of the franchise, whereas 0 feeds you into the origin. So 0 has more to explore than 1, 1 is a trampoline into 2, 0 is a book. 1 is a short shonen manga, 0 is a book. That's the best way I can explain it, hopefully that helps.

Honestly I can see why everyone loves this game.
Yakuza 0, and I'm writing this as of just finishing Yakuza 3, NO SPOILERS DONT WORRY!
Is probably hands down the best story in terms of writing. The amount of twists and turns, knooks and crannies to uncover is crazy. The emotion and the character development is great. Plus the peak of antagonist defeat is honestly done so right, they knew how to execute (pun intended) those high intense moments. The story is phenomenal and the gameplay is also very fun, 3rd best gameplay system in the entire franchise. Start with 0. Start with this.

I got vac banned from Counter-Strike: Source, 12 years ago, other than CSS - TF2 is the only game they still won't let me play.
