The Line is a pretty standard 3rd person shooter, but only to me a satire on the standard shooter genre. The Line is, for all intents and purposes, a modern retelling of Heart Of Darkness, and using the storyu and themeing in a postmodern way to comment and satirize the genre it exists in.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is a game about a security-officer-turned-cyborg-detective named Adam Jensen. Human Revolution revolves around Adam trying to figure out who killed his girlfriend in an attack on the lab he worked in that left him now dependent on cybernetics to live. With the robust leveling system for stats and well-though-out level design, the game can easily be played as either an action game or a stealth game. The setting of Human Revolution is very gritty and vibrant, showing the lives of the people who can barely afford to prevent their bodies from rejecting their cybernetics and the people who make tons of money off of it. It's not often a game is able to entwine interesting gameplay with an intelligent story, but Deus Ex: Human Revolution does it so well it should be a case study on game design.

Definitely a departure from most World War II shooters, Red Ochestra 2 rewards paitence and teamwork. The first person cover system works well and suppression can be a very scary thing. I think that if you wanted to experince how World War II may have actually been without the action movie guns and explosions, then Red Orchestra 2 is the game for you.

This game is really fast and has a tendency to be incredibly exciting. Being able to land a skillshot while moving at 200 km/h is a skill that takes great practice and is very rewarding when you land it. SHAZBOT!
