Best game of its genre. Steam shows I have 354 hours, but I also purchased this game on Switch and have played it extensively on road trips and frequently just before bed.

Pyre is an absolutely beautiful game, with an art style that is vivid and colorful with great music reminiscent of Supergiant's previous two titles.

Those are my highest praises of the game. Unfortunately, the game play of Pyre did not grip me and I could not finish it.

The mechanics of the game itself are cool, and I like the cross between RPG and the "fantasy basketball" game that is what you actually play during the campaign. The controls of Pyre during the games (Rites) aren't excellent, and the Rites themselves could not hold my attention. It felt more like a chore to complete to access more of the story than a fun activity.

The story itself is very deep. But there is a lot of suspension of disbelief required and even then the motives of the characters aren't very clear. There's a lot of auxiliary story you learn about as pages pop up, but that quickly becomes a chore too as page after page of backstory that isn't relevant to the main plot drowns you.

tl;dr: Beautiful game with some neat elements. But the gameplay and story was not engaging enough for me to want to continue playing it.

I love this game. It's very challenging, but the rules are extremely simple. There are multiple ways to go about the game - You can progress each floor (three levels, one boss) one at a time and retry at that floor whenever you want. OR you can go through the entire dungeon in one run, but you have to start over from the beginning if you die.

Each has its perks - the one-run has the progression where you get to collect items in the easy levels to take on the harder ones, but dying is super punishing. The pick-your-floor is really nice to practice the higher floors in the dungeon, but you are dropped into the floor with your default weaponry.

It's also a rhythm game with a great soundtrack.

If you like fast-paced dungeon crawlers or just games that are easy to pick up but hard to master, buy this game.

Boring story, boring characters, boring battle system (plays itself).

But I guess the graphics are nice?
