L.A. Noire is an innovative and unique game. Set in the late 1940's Los Angeles, L.A. Noire grabs you with its rich Noire atmosphere that's maintained throughout the game. Late 1940's Los Angeles is beautifully and meticulously recreated. The game is open world, so you can drive around at your leisure. You play as Detective Cole Phelps, a world war two veteran who climbs his way up the LAPD, wanting to clean up the streets. You investigate crime scenes, engage in shootouts, and partake in interviews and interrogations.

During interviews and interrogations you'll have to read someone's body language (Defensive positions such as crossing of arms and little details like fidgeting) and facial expressions (Darting of eyes, sudden change in expression) to tell if they're telling the truth, or lying. If you suspect them of lying but don't have sufficient evidence then you can choose to doubt them.

L.A. Noire does have action sequences, car and foot chases, shoot-outs, and brawls. Happening fairly often, they act as a nice way to break up the cases. On a side note, driving recklessly is discouraged, during a case it will significantly impact your overall case rating.

This game isn't for everyone, the story has a slow pace, which'll quickly tell you if you like Detective stories or not. As a downside, the open world is lacking. L.A. is massive, the game has collectible golden films, cars, and landmarks. The landmarks are okay, but the cars are tedious, You'll just end up borrowing cars from citizens over and over again. There are fifty gold films scattered around L.A. which just makes them a dull chore, making you dart around the city. I felt they could've done more with the open word.

The game has 26 main cases and 40 street crimes, which makes it a damn long game to tackle with at least an hour for each main story case and maybe about 5 mins. for each street crime. Love this game.
