Waited to pick this up on sale and I'm glad I did. It's fun, but oh my god so many cutscenes and the whole concept of friendship and hangouts was such a bad idea. This is coming from a guy that loved XCOM 2 because cutscenes were minimal and gameplay was focused on strategy and tactics.

The battles are fun and I do everything I can to get into those as quickly as possible by skipping all dialogue. Does the typical Marvel fan love all this friendship stuff?? It makes me feel physically ill when I listen to it...

I'm upset because I know the potential of Firaxis and they could've taken the best parts of XCOM 2 and combined it with Marvel. This game is definitely easier than XCOM 2 so if that was a barrier to entry for you before that will not be an issue here.

I think this game also went a little overboard with the loot and all that crap, everything you picked up in XCOM felt meaningful, this game can feel like an ARPG with how much loot it dishes out.

Could've been so much better, but worth it for the fun card battles if the game is steeply discounted.

I gave up on this game when I first tried it because I really didn't understand it and the loading times were killing me. I decided to give it a second chance because I really liked the mech customization that it offered. Well I'm glad I did because you can change all the settings to make the turns nice and fast, and load times have been improved considerably. I liked XCOM, but it can't hold a candle to how much fun I'm having with this : )

Not going to get into detail, this is a great game that is an absolute must buy for any strategy enthusiast. I finally decided to post a positive review for this game as the latest patch drastically decreased turn times, speeds are on par with how fast they are for the first TW Warhammer, well done!

I don't have a lot of time in this game yet, but the first 6 hours have been a lot of fun.

I was so skeptical about picking this up because of the negative reviews, but I'm glad I did.

This is Warhammer 40K, as such, there is no diplomacy. As soon as you meet another race you need to find out how to purge it as efficiently as possible. If you're looking for diplomacy...look elsewhere.

I never actually liked all the diplomacy of the Civilization games, I always ended up declaring war on everyone. If you were like me in that respect then you will probably enjoy this game.

The music is fantastic! I usually turn the music off in any game that I play, but this soundtrack adds to the atmosphere so well that I have to keep it on. On a side not, the sound effects are amazing as well. The Space Marine bolters sound heavy and hard hitting, I love it.

The graphics are not groundbreaking, but the artistic direction is great. The landscaped are visually pleasing and the character models/animations are fun to watch.

Additional things I liked:
Animations can be sped up or slowed down
There is a quest system unique to each race
Gameplay for each faction is unique
Developers are active

Give it a try, if you don't like it you can always return it with less than 2 hours of gameplay, but I bet you'll end up keeping it.

I really don't understand all the hate this game is getting, perhaps people were just expecting a different type of game. There's a lot of micromanaging in the battles, but there are speed controls to slow down/pause/speed up the game to issue commands. It's still not the best game it could be, but it's a big improvement over the first. Abilities such as boarding actions and torpedoes now have a limited number of uses which makes the battles much more enjoyable. The battles are short and fun; ramming a ship with an Imperial cruiser is just so damn satisfying. I really enjoy the sounds effects as well, cannons sound meaty and when ships get hit you can feel the metal scraping against metal. Can't speak to multiplayer as I rarely have more than five minutes of uninterrupted time for games, but the single player campaign has been great so far. If you're a fan of Warhammer 40k or enjoy small-scale real-time tactics, definitely pick this game up, on sale if possible.

If you enjoyed the free-to-play mobile version of this game then you will enjoy this one even more. It's a very enjoyable mix of card-based and turn-based gameplay. If they keep coming out with new content for this game, I will keep buying it. The free card packs each week are also a great bonus!
Side note: A great game to play if you don't have a lot of time on your hands as you can jump into a game right where you left off, play a few turns, and move on with whatever you have to do in your life.

Early Access Review
After a couple rounds of quickplay and a few attempts at bounty hunts I can already tell that I will be sinking a good amount of time into this game. I really hope Crytek doesn't screw this up!

Got it as part of the humble bundle so I didn't pay full price, but I'm having a great time with it. I enjoy skirmishes against the computer, and the a.i. is pretty good. Honestly I hated it at first because I loved DOW 1 and 2, but if you just release your expectations, there is a great RTS to be found here. The change in mechanics takes some getting used to, but now I love picking different buffs to try out new playstyles. I bet a lot of the negative reviews would become positive if they just stopped expecting this to be something else and gave it another go. I do miss last stand, but I can always boot up DOW 2 if I need to get that fix!
