"Up down up down up left right rig- no that's not- ah damn it."

Lovely blend of Deckbuilding and rhythm game genre. I really hope to see options to set some sort of dynamic tempo instead of forcing every song to be on the same beat. And same goes for the difficulty! Maybe a setting to have the difficulty ramp up after every fight.
I'm gonna be stuck playing this game for a while now. I've been following this game since Reprise and I can't wait to see more content being added in this game.
I wish Darlo and Kohaku was real...

You would have done the same as that lizard that camped that pipe to eat you.

EAC = No more much needed mod support and options such as subtitles, graphic options, various helpful tools to debug personal worlds, etc...

I've seen it coming with the introduction of their premium sub plan. Gotta squeeze as much as you can from it, eh?

ChilloutVR , Neos VR... there are better options out there. I personally prefer Neos VR.

(Quotes taken from the "Liner Notes", in description)
Austin: "We want to make a game about war, but we want to make it fun. What were some fun wars?"
Andy: "World War One was fun. So was the Russian Revolution. Super fun."
Austin: "True, true. And so is starvation. And cannibalism. Really goofy stuff."
Andy: "So our game is all about building tension before short explosive bursts of action… maybe we should use tangos and latin dance music as the basis for things? Real Time Strategy is essentially ballroom dancing."
Austin: "Yeah, and we can play it all using early 20th century Russian instruments. That makes sense."
Andy: "Except our game is wild and raucous, so let's play the instruments drunkenly."
Austin: "Will do."

Amazing. that gave me a chuckle.

Once again, Austin Wintory and his musicians shows off their talent with this soundtrack for the game. The motifs, the drunken bar chants and the sudden and explosive tunes never gets old. Not only that, but it perfectly fits with the pace and theme of the game. They really did a good job of also capturing, in a nutshell, the ideologies of the 4 factions through music and instrumentation.
If you haven't played the game, I highly suggest you do. Great RTS to pick up and start. The songs are somewhat linked to the lore of the game, but you can still enjoy the bombastic songs on this album with any knowledge of it.

Favorite songs: The Food of the Beasts / Who becomes the meat? / The Hungry face a stiff wing / Bellafide's Terantella / Waltz of the KSR / The Siege of Ragfall Road / The War for Meat / The Ivories of the Beasts / Anthem of the Commonfolks / Victors will feast

TL;DR : This game really depends on how you like your board games.
Please consider doing some research and looking at some gameplay on youtube before buying the game (with it's DLCs if you want. they are completly optional.)
... And no. Microtransactions/boxes and keys are a thing, but they will not make you any better at the game. For pete sake...

Armello is a board game. A rather random one when i come to think of it, but enjoyable.
The story goes along something like this. There is this lion king who once rule the kingdom who fell ill because of corruption that has entered the kingdom. The king now rotten is spreading havock, and it is YOU who have to defeat him and overthrow the king so that peace can finally be ruled over Armello.
I think that's about right.

There are many ways to win at this game, you have to either kill the king without dying, or you can get prestigious, (gaining enought reputation to be called the new king), become even more rotten then the king, or collect enough crystal stones. There's probably one last thing I am forgetting... Oh well.

Without getting too much into the characters, there are 8 characters in the game available to you to choose from.(excluding the DLC characters of course.) Each with a unique skill/ability and stats for you to take advantage and exploit.

Once beginning a game, you and three other players will be put onto each corner of a map. The map is randomly generated, so take a good look of the map before doing something.
Depending on your amount of Wits your character has, you will be presented with a set of random cards. there are 3 group of cards.

-Equipement (Provides you weapons that you can use on others to inflict damage or to wear on your deck. You can have a maximum of three equipement on your deck at all time. Wish to replace a weapon? You will need to discard a card. (Unless for a specific character who can retain said item.)

-Magic (These cards will consume magic points which you can obtain from certain tiles on the map. they can range from healing you, give you a boost of speed/ action points, hurt someone or spawn one of those fancy crystals.)

-Trickery (These cards are the trap cards of the game. You can place them on tiles of the map in exchange of some cash, rot or prestige. You can also play them directly on players depending on the card,)

There are other group of cards of which you cannot choose/obtain for yourself. which are:

-Followers (They are obtained from quests (or dungeons) and will help you along your journey. You place them on your followers deck near your equipment deck.)

-King cards (These cards are cards that will determine how the day will playout. These cards are given to the player with the highest prestige. You can only choose one at the beginning of a day. You cannot keep the card to yourself.)

At the end of each rounds you will be pick a certain amount of cards depending on the amount of cards you've used during the previous round. The number of card you can hold will be determined by the amount of Wits your character has.

At the start of the game you will also be given the choice of three random quest. You can only pick one. These quest will provide you permanent stat boost for your character for the run/game you are currently playing and potentially cards that you can only find in quests upon completion. At the end of a quest, you will be given three other quests.

From there you start climbing your way to the throne. To help you along the way, you can capture settlements that will give you an income of cash. There will be dungeons and caves to explore with the potential of finding rewards, Forest that grants you stealth during night and mountain that will cost you 2 action points to go on, but will benefit you with a defensive advantage. There's also some stonehenge looking tiles which will heal you and can spawn crystal stones at the beginning of each nights.

Loyal guards will roam the map. Attack one and you will have a bounty on your head. Same thing if you try to enter the king's palace. If the guards are the one to attack you, you won't suffer any bounty.
Creatures called Bane will appear on the map at night at certain dungeons. they will terrorize villages and hurt anything on site. They are heavilly corrupted. Attack with caution.

Killing players/Bane or completing a quest will grant you Prestige. The one with the highest amount of prestige will be nominated the Leader and will be able to choose from two cards of the King that will change the way the two upcoming rounds will playout.
Attacking a guard, entering the king's palace or being victim of a player's certain card will lower your prestige. A king card may also lower your prestige if you don't meet a certain requirment in the card.

You may be victim of Rot. Rot will slowly kill you at each morning, You can heal yourself from corruption/Rot or you can embrasse the sickness and become more ill and therefore, gain an advantage. Gaining more rot will provide you more dice against pure/less ill entities. Although Stonehenges may hurt you.

Once completing a total of three quest, you will be given a key to the King's palace, which will grant you a path to fight the king without to worry about his security trying to prevent you from accessing the castle.

Now, the main concern some people might have with the game is... well it sounds too damn random, and it is. I don't mind the random cards and quests but it is true that not having a randomly generated map would make strategy less RNG based. Maybe the addition of a map to choose from would be great addition to the game and make it less brutal.

RNG problems put aside, the team at League of Geeks can be proud of the work they put into the characters. Each character don't feel superior to an other. Which is something considering there are 8 characters in this game to choose from. +another 8 characters if you include the DLCs which are also very interresting. It all comes down to how you like to play Armello.

But don't expect a ultra silky smooth experience while playing the game. On my end i'v encountered a few glitches and bugs here and there but nothing major nor game breaking, but i'v heard some people complaining about some bugs appearing over the new updates that made their experience a little bit less enjoyable. so keep that imind.

Overall, the game is a blast with friends. I find to enjoy the game even with strangers or computers. I love the simple, yet somewhat complex system the game has. But PLEASE! for the love of god do consider doing your OWN research before buying this game. i may have oversimplified some things about the game. so better be safe then sorry.

I don't recommend buying the game right now. In addition of Bethesda hiding the old Skyrim from the steam store, they just annoncened that they are bringing back "Paid Mods"

They've tried it on the old skyrim workshop and it was horrible. Too many things have gone wrong and the backlash the community gave was very intense. Bethesda is trying to revive that meme that was the idea.

Great and very generous in concept, Executed extremely poorly without the support of human. Besides, on the Nexus you can get mods for free and guess what, you can donate all of your money throught there instead of worrying that 75% of your money goes to the company of the game and not the creator of the mod.

I'm not saying that the game in not enjoyable at all because of this, infact the game is fine by itself, It's just that bethesda is getting too greedy. Trying out things that didn't work out well in the past.

The company needs to get its ♥♥♥♥ togheter. Guess we'll just have to sit back and enjoy the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Expect modders finding ways around the system and people "Pirating mods"...

Never though i would say that in my life time.
