Let me start off by saying that I am a Light main, and while I have some experience as the other classes/builds, I honestly didn't enjoy the others anywhere near as much. Now, with that out of the way, onto the actual review.

SBMM .... This is a something some people hate, and others love. If you consider yourself an average or below average player, then it's probably a good thing and it completely makes sense for you to want to play with others around your level. But I would consider myself an above average player, and the changes, or addition, or whatever they did to SBMM really killed this game for me. In the first few days, I would consistently drop 20+ kill games, 33 being my highest, and even though I had to try a bit harder than most other players ( Because Light character are basically meant for higher end players to be effective, I wish I could say differently but I honestly can't ) it felt rewarding. Now, I have to try significantly harder, to only " keep up " with the other players. It's basically like having a second job that doesn't even pay you, and for someone with limited free time for games these days, that just doesn't appeal to me like it used too. It also makes playing as a solo player much harder, so if your friends just don't like the game, or maybe aren't as good as you, well tough luck, enjoy going against 3 stacks that play the most optimal way possible, allowing very little room for " fun ".

So to wrap this up, this game honestly is fun, or rather has the potential to be fun. SBMM in my opinion basically makes every competitive game turn into more of a chore than an enjoyable experience, but I can also completely understand why developers add it to their games. I only wish they would keep SBMM in modes that matter, like the tournament playlist and keep it out of the more casual modes.

Oh boy this game, this ******* game..

It is so addicting, it really is. The idea of swords clashing, parrying and dodging, knights and vikings, cool ninja boys, oh this game was supposed to be a dream come true. Let me tell you what this game really is...

This game is utter garbage for someone looking for genuine skill. Every new character that gets released just breaks the game, I can't tell they test anyone because of how uneven these people are. Most of the characters make literally zero sense at all. Oh, you're playing a 130 Pound Ninja who supposed to be " Fast as **** boi " well don't worry, the 368 Pound tank of a man wearing 80 pounds worth of gear will almost always get there attacks out faster than you, oh you try to side dash to avoid a hit? Don't worry, that same man will just track your every movement, making that " ninja " your playing look like a ******* sumo wrestler out there.

Maybe want to try your hand in Dominion for some 4v4 action? Well what you're actually getting into is a 1v3 because you best believe your team is going to get steamrolled by the same guys, and even though the enemies travel in a pack, they somehow always own 2-3 of the total objectives.

There are a a select few " heroes " in this game that you'll run into that make you wonder why the **** you play anyone that isn't them. You will fight people who glow orange for an entire battle and never run out of stamina, as you throw out 4 light attacks and are wheezing in the corner after while also getting double if not triple teamed.

The only thing even semi enjoyable about this game is the duel / brawl section, you typically won't be double teamed ( in brawl ) but you will almost certainly run into those " Heroes " I spoke of that will make you contemplate your very existence.

I also forgot to mention that this game isn't very popular, it's like waiting for a league queue, in other words, go make yourself some food, maybe watch a movie or 2, because it will take a hot minute to find a match, and when you do, it's going to be against the same people you've faced 1000 times because I swear this game has like 30 active players.

Moral of the review: It's addicting, but it isn't fun. Does it have it's moments? Sure, every game does, but it's outweighed by the unbalanced characters and the " spam to win " premise behind this game. If you can get past the initial dread and depression that this game causes, and you really fight to learn the hero you like, then hone- Yeah that's a ******* joke, play the new heroes, learn the cheese combo, win the game.

It really depends...

If you only plan on playing this and not messing around much with RE Resistance,
i'd recommend waiting for the game to go on sale.

While it is a fun game, it's length doesn't warrant a 60$ Price tag.

But if you have some friends, or just enjoy the concept behind Resistance,
then I believe 60$ is a very reasonable price to pay for 2 games.

Okay, so I don't do reviews for games very often ( This being my first time for steam ), but I had a blast with this game! I've outgrown most games I used to enjoy, and I get bored very easily with majority of new releases anymore, but that was far from the case here. Bosses weren't far apart from each other so it was never too much of a trash mob fest before meeting the next unique boss, not to mention you may experience entirely different bosses in your world from those in a friends world ( I believe all key bosses will remain the same ) which kept the game very lively. Overall a great experience and easily worth 60$ ... Oh wait it's only 40$? Then why haven't you got it yet?!?!?
