Since Season 7 has been announced as the last season, probably not worth jumping in. Game tries to do too much and misses some elements of what makes Battlefield great. The vehicle datapad mechanic is just bad, it complicates something that wasn't broken. Graphics are pretty good. Class system added after launch is fine but should have been included at launch. Progression system has the same issues as Battlefield 4; after a while it becomes impossible for new players to pick up the game and have a decent chance of getting kills. Man I miss the days of Battlefield 2. That game was simple, easy to pick up & play however you wanted, and just plain fun.

Good stuff. I hope they keep the content coming. My only concern is that there are only 3 classes so they might get stale over time.

An absolute masterpiece. From characters, to combat, to romance, to story & quest lines, to environments, to depth . . . this game is the best RPG of all time.

First time dropping into a Battle Royale game after 20+ years of other multi-player FPS's - from Doom to Unreal to Battlefield to Overwatch. Playing Apex Legends is like being in an abusive relationship - you are in love but it makes you feel terrible about yourself. When it works it is awesome but I ask myself why I play it on a fairly regular basis because it can be so rage inducing. Everything looks good on paper - graphics, heroes & abilities, map detail & layout, battle royale mode is cool, but it can be excruciatingly difficult. Aiming in particular is harder in this game than any other I've ever played. Admittedly, I'm not the best player anymore, but this game is very different, IMO.
My rounds typically go one of 3 ways . . . drop into a free for all & die in your first gunfight, loot for 8-10 minutes seeing nobody & then die on your first encounter, or gunfight hop to a Top 5 or a win. Depending on where you like to drop, most are either the first type or the second type, & 5% are the last type.
There will be many games when you loot & get killed or drop in & get killed. If you've played other FPS's like me (Battlefield), many of your instincts will be completely wrong in Apex. Just be ready for a very different experience in Apex . . . and good luck, you'll need it against some of the really good players & squads.
November 2021 update: 600 hours in & my review hasn't changed. Have I improved? A little. Is it more fun? A little. Is the experience any better? A little. The Skill Based Matchmaking (SBMM) in this game is complete trash though. Apex thinks I am much better than I really am and puts me with players worse than me &/or up against MUCH better players on a regular basis. No fun for me & no fun for them I assume. I am resigned to my life as an Apex trash can.
S14 Update: Love/hate relationship still true. SBMM still trash and the worst it has ever been this season.Random teammates are usually better just muted. I've improved a little but still go through streaks where I get my butt handed to me repeatedly. Some bugs like the no audio issues still exist and have from Day 1.
End of S15: Tons of changes coming in S16 but it won't matter if they don't fix matchmaking or figure out how to deal with cheaters better.
S16: No idea why I keep playing this game. The Finals might be OK.
S20: Stopped playing anything other than an occasional Mixtape match because cheating and matchmaking has gotten so bad that it is impossible for solo queue players to have any sort of fun. The ALGS (pro league) hack doesn't help either. The developers just keep pumping out overpriced skins and don't seem to be interested &/or able to address the fundamental issues with this game.
S21: Apex has gone off the cliff. Completely ineffective anti cheat, no controls against smurfing, over tuned aim assist, sketchy net code and hit detection, and arguably the worst matchmaking of any MMFPS in history. IMO, Apex is what it is due to gross neglect by Respawn & EA. They keep pumping out new legends, collection events, LTM's, & maps while ignoring the core issues making it increasingly unplayable for the average gamer.
S21: Still no idea why I play. This has become a complete money grab by EA/Respawn.
