Review has been changed after Sony changed their mind about making a loyal fanbase register PSN accounts.

As I said, the game is exciting, challenging, self-aware, and ridiculously fun. I highly recommend this explosive third person action-packed fight to spread democracy throughout the galaxy.

**EDIT (21-07-2023) This review got a couple comments about the latest update and my note about the in-game currency. Please see my response in the comments below**

tl,dr at the very bottom. This review is spoiler-free.

I was very pleasantly surprised by this free to play gacha-rpg, having expected the usual gacha-game trappings of constantly running into content roadblocks and needing heaps of currency to build a viable team.
But LIMBUS COMPANY proved to be different.

At the time of writing this review Project Moon has not only been very generous with its currency (Lunacy), with prices being very low (even for the lengthy battlepass), but has often giving out Lunacy packs to every player every time they patch something or simply go down for maintenance. Project Moon has treated their community very well.

The biggest surprise was how deep the RPG story goes.
The characters and style alone were enough to draw me in, but the story turned this game into an addiction.
Set in the same universe as Project Moon's prior games, LOBOTOMY CORPORATION and LIBRARY OF RUINA, LIMBUS COMPANY is set in a large city separated into different districts, in which you manage a band of 12 'Sinners' that fight to obtain magical objects.
The Sinners are able to adopt unique identities from alternate worlds, each one having their own set of powers and abilities. Lunacy is spent on rolling for these alternate identities, though players can also save up Sinner shards from duplicates to outright buy new identities. Even so, the base Sinners are all very strong and can get the job done, so players that don't roll often can still enjoy most of what LIMBUS COMPANY has to offer.

LIMBUS COMPANY's story ranges from typical anime-silliness to deep traumatic emotion, with the characters having to fight to survive in a gritty unforgiving world. Though some story chapters suffer from a bit of padding with extra fights, the general pacing is fairly tight; when the story dips into despair and cruelty, the game's narrative peppers in moments of comedy that don't feel out of place.
Though LIMBUS COMPANY is technically the third game set in the same universe, new players do not need any prior knowledge going in; the game does a great job of getting completely new players (such as myself) up to speed, while still giving veterans a lot of new content to sink their teeth into.

The gameplay can be a bit daunting to new players, as there are multiple systems in place during fights.
When you choose a move for a Sinner to use they clash with an enemy. Every attack uses coinflips, with heads generally increasing the attack's score and tails decreasing the score. Last one with points left gets to attack the other.
You do have to take element/damage types into consideration, and status effects tied to each attack can help or complicate things. But at the very top the game gives a one word summary of your chances: it ranges from Hopeless to Dominating, and could be anything in between. There are also shortcut buttons, where the game will pick the moves most likely to win, or the moves that will do the most damage (if they land). So while the game may seem daunting to play at first it doesn't take long to get the hang of combat.

All in all, LIMBUS COMPANY has quickly become a favourite in my entire Steam library, and I would highly recommend this game to RPG fans who appreciate a great story and players who enjoy a tricky yet straightforward layer of strategy in combat.
This is an excellent game worth any amount you invest into it.

TL;DR
+Excellent story and characters
+Very cool and stylish design
+Engaging and fun strategic combat
+Very generous with in-game currency
+Base Sinners still viable choices for fighting; heavy investment not necessary to make story progress
+Rewards from some timed events can still be picked up with in-game generated currency
+Greatly expands the lore and story from past Project Moon games, but prior knowledge is not necessary for new players to enjoy LIMBUS COMPANY
+Recurring game modes challenge players and change things up to give veterans more to do
+Can be greatly enjoyed for free

-Some chapters suffer a bit of padding from additional fights
-Tutorial fights don't explain every aspect of the game in great detail; new players will need to read carefully

So far so good with DARKTIDE. Though the content is currently limited to a few maps, the game dev is constantly updating and fixing issues during the pre-order beta.
And even still, what's here is incredibly fun and deliciously violent; you feel the weight of every swing, and watching the limbs of enemies fly in all directions never gets old.

No prior Warhammer knowledge is necessary, though Fat Shark have done a terrific job of crafting a faithful and genuine depiction of the 40K universe. The gameplay is fairly tight and very fun with friends (though the game can still be easily enjoyed as a solo player).

Can't wait to see what comes out next

*Spoilers at the bottom

Though I am recommending this game, for me it's a bit of a shaky recommendation.
The gameplay flip-flops between a tense visual novel and strategic puzzle game, where you have to build yourself a stairway to reach the top by moving cubes around. Harder than it sounds.

It's a lot of fun, and the story can get quite compelling.
You play Vincent Brooks, a 30-something year old who has a girlfriend named Katherine, who wants to get more serious about their relationship. However, Vincent meets a girl named Catherine, and things take a very alarming turn.
The game has a meter that is affected by your choices, with the arrow moving between pink for Catherine and purple for Katherine. There are 8 different endings, and it's up to you what route Vincent ends up taking.

However, one aspect of the story doesn't sit well with me. *SPOILERS AHEAD*

***********

There is a character named Erica, who is a long-time friend of Vincent and his group. One of the friends, Tobi, clearly has a crush on her and wants to go out with her. However, whenever he brings Erica up, the group reacts with disdain.
It's later revealed that Erica is a transgender woman, and instead of telling Tobi the group tells him she's trouble. If they're all long-time friends, since high school, why wouldn't they just tell Tobi? Instead they let them hook up, and Tobi eventually finds out.
I'm not someone who is a stickler for political correctness, but I did feel uncomfortable when this reoccurring gag failed to land and the game kept pushing it.

I just want people to be aware of this. If it doesn't bother you, then by all means please enjoy the game. The puzzles become tricky yet incredibly fun, and the story gets very tense and compelling. All in all it's a well-crafted puzzle/visual novel game, it's just brought down a bit by something I personally feel is a little malicious. But that's just my opinion.

TL;DR at the bottom
------
I never anticipated I'd get so emotionally invested in an MMO, but here I am over 500 hours later, having completed the main scenario questline (so far).

Though I had started playing after the release of A Realm Reborn, never experiencing FF14 1.0, I could still appreciate the care and effort that went into crafting this game.
The interface is easy to grasp and the game does an excellent job of getting new players up to speed, even when they start a new role after putting many hours into the game.

The story and characters are definitely one of the game's greatest strengths, especially when players start pushing into the Shadowbringers expansion. I found myself emotionally invested in what happened to comrades and even villains, and was always eager to see where the story would take me next.

I started the game as a Dragoon (a damage-dealing class), and found combat to be incredibly fun. I cannot speak for every other job because I haven't had a chance to try them, but at the time of this writing I've been learning how to heal as a White Mage and found the job to be just as fun in a different way.
What role best suits you depends on personal taste, but FF14 makes it very easy to switch: all you have to do is talk to the appropriate NPC to start the questline for a particular job and away you go, able to switch between jobs at the push of a button.
The game doesn't explicitly point out where these NPCs are, so a Google search or two may be in order. It can be daunting for new players to look up quests and information as there is so much to do in FF14, but the resources that can be found are incredibly helpful and new player friendly.

Since the base game and the first expansion Heavensward (which has an excellent story) are free to new players there really aren't any excuses to not at least try the game out, see what you think. If you're looking for a fun and engaging epic MMORPG I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

TL;DR
+Incredible story and well-written characters
+Beautiful graphics
+Easy to comprehend interface
+Smooth and fun combat (at least as a Dragoon and White Mage)
+Tons of content to keep players busy
+Friendly and helpful community
+Easy to switch between roles and jobs
+Takes its time to train and build up new players

-Sheer scope of FF14 can be daunting to new players
-Bit of quest padding in the mid-levels
-Though minimal, there is a necessary amount of grinding

A very simple yet very fun and addicting party game that you can easily play solo or with a friend or two, FALL GUYS is an obstacle course party game where you run, jump, and dive your way to victory (sometimes grabbing onto things).

You are put through several games, some of them races, some of them team-based party games, until the last handful of participants are put through one last test until there is only one left standing.
Despite some unfair team-based games and a few lag spikes here and there, FALL GUYS is a crazy fun battle royale that will keep you entertained for hours

Another game that could be considered "short and sweet", CARRION is a reverse horror game where *you* play the vile monster ripping people apart. The story is pretty simple, but what the game may lack a bit in narrative it more than makes up for in gameplay.
You start small, but evolve yourself into a better killing machine. The controls are simply, sometimes a bit flimsy, but not game-breakingly so.
Very entertaining, a ton of fun, and artistically creative, CARRION is a bit of a tough recommendation at $22 (Canadian) for 5 hours of gameplay with no replayability. But I personally had enough fun to recommend it for the current price. Even better if you snag it on sale!

In my opinion this is not only one of From Software's best games, but one of the best strategic third person action games ever.
Filled to the brim with stellar atmosphere, gorgeous character & architecture design, framed around a solid story and carried by polished and intense gameplay, SEKIRO: SHADOWS DIE TWICE has you play Wolf, a shinobi who is charged with protecting a young master, Kuro, and has the unique ability to come back to life once when slain in battle.

Blending simple stealth mechanics with parry-heavy swordplay, SEKIRO will certainly test your reflexes and patience throughout, and the high difficulty may prove too much for some players. But each fight feels like it's ripped straight from a Japanese action movie or anime, and the moment you finally best a particularly difficult opponent is indescribably satisfying.

Well worth a play, don't let this amazing game pass you by!

Was gifted this game by my partner, had followed all of the steps:
-made a Bethesda account
-verified my account
-linked my Bethesda and Steam accounts
-made sure my Steam profiles settings were all set to Public (as was his)

Despite multiple Steam and computer restarts, after trying to invite each other for almost half an hour, we cannot seem to play together. We're like ghosts to each other, appearing online and able to send invites but the other person never gets them, despite playing on the same network.
This may be an unfair reason for giving it a thumbs down, but I can't deny how frustrating this experience has been. If you can get YOUNGBLOOD to work properly that's good, I genuinely hope you enjoy the game.
But I can't get it to work. Feels like a game gift was wasted.
Absolute waste of time
