one of the most broken game i have ever played when it comes to basic pc features... the game only supports exclusive fullscreen, and it force-changes your computer resolution to the game resolution. Playing with any type of gamepad is a major challenge too...

I was able to get windowed mode by using borderlesser, setting the game to 1080p, but it still mess up my windows resolution and my desktop icons anytime i even start the game. Then its a gamble if borderless fullscreen will even work properly or not... Oh and if you have "auto-hdr" enabled, everything will look wayyy too bright and washed up on top of it all.

Its supposed to be a nice and relaxing game, but all the tech issues have made it far from relaxing! :P

Early Access Review
This is probably my saddest kickstarter backed project... I cant understand how this has "very positive" reviews... I tried to play the game maybe 5 or 6 times since 2013... latest was in 2020...

The game does have nice visuals, nice lighting, nice physics system... but there is no story, item interaction is extremely difficult because there is no highlights of any kind, even opening a simple DOOR is difficult as you need to click and hold, then move your mouse to mimick the movement your hand would do if you were to open the door... and your character must not be anywhere near the door or it will get in the way!

I have never been able to successfully KILL anything... the UI is severly lacking (or non existant)... there is no tutorial or help/tips to figure out which keys does what... (yes there is a manual like old 80's games but we aint in the 80's anymore)

I really wanted to see more and actually play the game, but sadly the mechanics are fighting so hard against any playable experience...

Addendum : I am also wondering, when checking the kickstarter page for Sui Generis (old name before it got changed), we saw beautiful pictures of town, mountains and desert... was this ALL cut during development and only a barebone dungeon remains? That is what the screenshot seems to indicate, and seeing as i never got past the first "level" its hard to tell ;)

Really an amazing finish to the shovel knight series... In my opinion the best (by far) of the 4 campaigns... and the most accessible... The original and specter were good but somewhat on the harder side, while I personally did not enjoy the controls of Plague Knight, all of them were much harder that King Knight campaign. The way levels are subdivided in this one (every levels are MUCH smaller than in all other campaign) makes progress so much more interesting. Great game.

I am about 70% done after 20h of playtime... For anyone on the fence, if you enjoyed SotN or any other of the RPG 2D Castlevania, this game is fantastic! There are mods availlable on the nexus (google it), you can change the button prompt for your controller of choice, change the portraits for amazing artwork add in bloody tears as a guitar solo... There are so many mechanics and this game is amazing! :)

Just though i'd leave a simple review for a game i helped kickstart all those years ago... Very short, it was great! :) A small fun metroidvania and I enjoyed it greatly :) ... Just finished my 100% run on normal.. I kinda regret not trying out nightmare from the start. The game was somewhat difficult at the begining but got way easier at the end (especially for completionist), but its alright for such games to get easier as you get stronger and it felt pretty good :)

Played this a while, then had a bug and lost everything... sure you could argue i should have done a backup export... but i did not... I wrote the the dev, and he gratiously helped me get my save back!! This is WAY more support than I have EVER gotten in many AAA games!! :)

Sure the game could use a few updates (use all availlable magic), permanant fast forward when unlocked, better resolution (i think this is engine related though)

But overall, a nice idle time killer for anyone who like idle games, just give it a try and see for yourself :)

This game was already amazing... and with the new HD texture its even more awesome! :)

If you like RPG and/or Tower Defense games, there is no reason not to play this gem of a game!!

Nice little story... nice replay value (with a new game+ style)... beautiful music... decent art...

Game used to "lag" somewhat before... and with the latest update its even better! :)

If you are reading this right now, you probably know what this game is... it is part 3 of a "trilogy" so to speak that started many years ago with TLJ in 1999... I fell in love with the 2nd game... then played the first one because I absolutely HAD to (with a guide cause i suck at puzzle game)... then I worked for 2 years with the creators of this game on Secret World (mmo)... always hoping we'd get to work on this amazing serie after it was done. However since I am not from Norway, there was really no chance of me working with RTG when they started their own company.

All that being said, when I saw the kickstarter for this i gave as much as I could... and I couldnt wait to play it... When Chapter 1 came out, I played it twice (for each path)... it was simply awesome!.. unfortunately i had to wait for the next one... when that one came out, i wanted to continue, but eventually decided to wait until all 5 chapters would be out to get the full story with most bugs fixed... I did play chapter 2 a bit, and I REALLY can't wait to go back and keep playing... this is a GEM of a game where story is not neglected or put aside. If you ever liked any game where story was important (any of the David Cage game come to mind), you will most likely love this one as well!... be sure to play -- or at least watch (on youtube or GMDb) -- the first two games before jumping in this one to really enjoy it fully! :)
