Just the most accurate F/A-18 ever simulated for home use. Nothing short of that should be expected from this bird.

If you are looking for strike fighter, this is your bird. Long range, wide variety of weaponry, powerful radar etc etc... Viggen can work as a lone wolf, or (even more efficiently) as part of strike pack, picking up a role as a ECM aircraft for example. AJS-37, although being mostly attacker / strike fighter, can also work as fighter with armament of Swedish AIM-9 based Rb-74's (or Rb-24's). It has also Rb-75 (copy of AGM-65) and Rb-05 (copy of AGM-12) A/G missiles. Also all-Swedish weapons, like Bk-90 gliding clusterbomb, can be found. However, Viggen excels most in anti-ship role. Armed with formidable Rb-15 or Rb-04 missiles it can take on any ship, even Nimitz class carrier.

Viggen is the kind of aircraft you'll either love it or hate it. If you love Hornet, don't get Viggen. If you love something older, and you want to try out something drastically different, this is your bird.

From the point of view of a guy who has flown some 600+ hours in this sim, I can say I ain't seen sh*t. But my five cents on whether you should download this free to play air combat simulator is here just in case you still wanna read it:

1. It's free. The two aircraft you get are a bit nonsense, but the Su-25 is good enough for combat, and the TF-51 is a good aircraft to try if you want to tame the taildraggers. Note that Su-25 has no clickable cockpit!

2. It has wide array of modules. This is important especially if your all-time-favourite fighter happens to be on the list (Top Gun anyone?). In that case you might've come here from that particular DLC. Also to consider are the DLC maps, which offer more immersive look. Note that it's a good idea to visit each module's review section independently before buying.

3. Realism lives here somewhere. It might be difficult to believe when you meet your first AI MiG-23 and it immediately out-turns, out-accelerates and pretty much out-everythings you except for out-smarting since those AI planes seem to be rather dumb. However, from flight simulator perspective DCS is as good as it gets, and if you buy any of the modules you can rest assured it's not you who has the power over physics. Note that side effects of that may include severe crashes and a lot of ejections if you have no previous sim experience.

4. Mission editor is for cowards who don't fly multiplayer (not really). I myself fly nearly half my time alone, the other one with few friends on a private server, usually fighting each other for training purposes only. Using mission editor is surprisingly easy and the array of missions you can make is endless. Of course it might be useful to have a slight idea what kind of missions are usually flown by a certain type of aircraft and what can be considered possible for that type. Just saying so nobody thinks one can just strap a couple of MERs with six Mk82s each on a Viper then dogfight two flights of Flankers and bomb their base down while Putin is taking dump in the hangars... Note that it's easy to get familiar with all of this via Youtube, although consulting flight manual is adviced.

5. Future is bright. DCS is being actively updated, which means it is no waste of money to invest in it. Also new modules are introduced every now and then, Mosquito FB, A-6E and A-7E, F-8J and F4U Corsair, Eurofighter Typhoon and some silly ugly machines straight from hell they call helicopters (Mi-24 and Apache) to name some. So no need to worry about whether the flying will go on.

To sum it up: If you're here you might as well download it cause you must be sort of a combat aircraft enthuasist to get here in the first place.

F-14 is the best DCS module available. It is pure joy for eyes and ears, and it's flightmodel really takes you into the tight-turning dogfights. Jester AI is truly a daysaver, at least if you make a good landing or do some tricky air to air refuel stuff. He's able to handle practically every other system except for LANTIRN-pod, but that will be added. The mighty Phoenix missile is a great weapon, but I would not generally rely on only that. AIM-7 Sparrow gives you a chance to end opponents not willing to die. As a mix of 1970's and 1980's technology Tomcat stands as the best platform to shred those modern fighters for people who prefer real gauges and screens that ain't made of some thousands of little lights. I warn you, this might take a lot of learning and is frustrating as heck at some points, but it still is the greatest of all. If you have F-5, Viggen, MiG-21, MiG-19 or practically any of the older end airframes and you have had enough of getting shot down, get this big bad birdie, and show them it's better not to take off at all when Tomcat is on the watch.

This is the game that makes me wanna buy a Trabi... Alongside the fact it's a fun car and great protest against these capitalist "I'm friend of nature" pretenders. It's like that because it shows how the most polluting thing is the manufacturing process; well kept Trabi has certainly made less harm to nature than similar weight of clothes in some lady's wardrobe in Manhattan...

To the real review I really like the game as it is. Totally worth the weight in every aspect, visual, audio etc.

Of course it could be perfected, but at this point it is all about small changes. Maybe manual gear shifting, maybe better newspaper functionality. Overhauls are no longer required.

To keep this short: just buy it. Unless you hate those cute little Trabis.

Situation as of May 2023 is that devs try to make people pay for playing this game. That has meant far too much grind. This is no longer the War Thunder I enjoyed.

Doesn't mean you wouldn't like it, just note that "Free to play" comes with a cost in this case.

This game is really fun one. Are in a ship, you want to get out. So you kill. It needs skills. You have to be sneaky, silent and fast! Even though the campaign is short it's fun. Runs easily with potatoes and toasters. I recommend.

Allright so I decided it is time to do a review for this one too...

Are you a potato gamer? Perhaps you run games on a toaster you've stolen from local store? If so, skip this game.

If you have computer good enough to run this one, and you're interested in WWII FPS, this is, let's say, a challenge for you.

First of all, prepare to do a hell lot of work to get something. You need to play quite a lot to unlock the thing you want to buy + it costs a small fortune to actually BUY the thing you've unlocked. The game is free, but the price of that freedom is high.

Second thing you want to know is that some people say Germany is OP faction. I can say it is not. I play only Germans and my loadout (Karabiner K98, Stiehlhandgrenate m24 and adjustable wrench) is not a threat to US or SU soldiers with their SMG's and all the other automatic weaponry. I realize of course there's also people on German side playing with automatic weapons, but that was basically my point of view. I selected my loadout to be challenging (and realistic, I wanted it to be similar with Finnish WWII soldier loadout: I even bought expensive grey colour to make my soldier to look like a Finnish one) but most of new players need to get something easier so please note this before saying something is OP.

As a third thing a want to point out that H&G is still developed heavily. Lots of things have changed during the time I've played this game. I've seen many people whining about "the good old days" of HnG, but I myself prefer everything BUT the increased amount of grind needed to get one bloody item! I however cannot have any opinion about the RTS side of the game as I haven't played it.

So the conclusion is the following: give this game a try! This is a bloody awesome game if you're looking something alternative to CS:GO and COD. I have played 115 hours with my own potato and now I am playing on my bros computer as my potato can't run HnG but I still have some kind of deep crush with this game. I really want to play this one more, a lot more!

Hope I'll see you, whether as my kamerad fighting for vaterland or as foe in my iron sights, but in HnG!
