I went into this optimistically, and holy hell was I surprised to have my expectations blown out of the water!

Pros:
- Unique premise for a game.
- Challenging AI (if playing solo). It's possible to pick the pace of the game by including 1-3 AI players on top of the hero you control.
- Incredible for use as a drinking game (local multiplayer). The game lends itself to unparalleled social/competitive (local multiplayer) gameplay thanks to the (often fast-paced, and frantic) 1v3 chaotic brawling.
- Narration, sound effects, and music are sensational, giving a strong sense of nostalgia. The narration is kooky as hell, and damn it works well.
- Game art feels spot-on. Pixelated graphics aren't everyone's cup of tea, though this game makes it work extremely well.
- Put together perfectly. Every aspect of the game feels as though it was developed with all the other parts of the game in mind. Very polished.

Cons (or lack thereof):
- The game does not (yet) have online multiplayer, however the developers have been very clear in stating that this is one of their primary focuses for addition to the game, moving forward.

Summary:
Do yourself a favour and grab this game. You won't regret it. Get a handful of mates together, and dive in, head first. It takes more than a great game to have me write a Steam review, and this game makes no exception to that rule.

I bought Factorio, purely because the aesthetic caught my eye, and reviews were favourable. I installed the game, and there is sat, in my Steam library for many months - untouched. The months rolled on, and finally I reached a point where I had no further games that I felt like playing... So reluctantly, I opted to try something new. I booted up Factorio.

Holy hell that was the best decision of my gaming life.

Factorio is an intricate, well thought out, logistics simulator, with a very welcomed dash of role playing, and action. I could go into the laundry list of reasons that this game is astonishingly good, however other reviews have touched on most, if not all of these points.

However, I will mention, something that I think hasn't been said enough - the quality of the development team. I've spent time poring through development journals/logs for an array of different games over the years, just to get a thorough idea of the direction a game's development is heading in. Typically these lack depth, or consciously neglect to delve into the inner decision making process for each game's changes/improvements - this is NOT the case for Factorio. The development team regularly release progress updates that are so incredibly comprehensive, that it really gives you a sense that they're building a game with passion and a hell of a lot of forward-thinking. In-depth reasoning behind development decisions, and plenty of work-in-progress shots, do a wonderful job of illustrating the effort invloved.

I could keep ranting about how epic this game is, but I feel like I'd be telling the same story that so many other Factorio players have already shared.

GET. THIS. GAME.

(If, for some reason, you don't like Factorio - this is probably an issue with how you are as a person, not an issue with the game itself. In the event of this occurring; I'd advise you to take a step back from your computer, and to contemplate your existence for a little while - something must have gone wrong, somewhere).

The game is currently as Alpha as faaaark, but still seems to provide enough depth to keep me playing. Content is always getting added, and the gameplay is quite impressive considering how early in development it is.

I'd recommend that game if you've got some friends who wouldn't mind jumping in with you. It will undoubtedly shape into one damn epic game when it nears completion!

If you haven't played this timeless classic, you should probably just pack your computer in a box and send it back to it's relevant manufacturer because you have obviously got no taste or sense of true quality.

That been said - if you possess the mental fortitude to right your horrible shortcomings, please purchase this title and play it through.

11/10 - in my top 3 games of all time.
