It takes a lot of features from other survival games but still hasn't figured out how to make them work cohesively. I debated keeping it in my profile but I'm not convinced that it will ever reach the potential of DayZ which is basically my bar at this point. I tried to make it work but once I realized there was no freelook and crouching had no effect on the infected detecting you - it felt pointless. Anyway, I requested a refund after 22 minutes. I'm not saying it won't become something, I'm just saying it's currently not.

Two months ago I would have been banging down your door trying to sell you this game. However, the developers for some unknown reason decided to release a update that really ruined the game. All vehicles - including watercraft and aerial were removed and replaced with "modular" cars "temporarily" that can be "upgraded" but everything is broken. To make matters worse the developers force updates so servers can shut down without any notice and be wiped. For community servers this is an issue because most community servers have a banking system to save some money through wipes. I got wiped going to the banker without any notice and lost 1M. The final straw is them constantly joking about the disaster they created while letting us all know they were busy watching the World Cup instead. With limited time to game, I will choose a game where the developers maintain a consistent gaming experience. I will try again in a few months.

One of the best games I have ever played, period. Has plenty of downsides too, but it still outshines the flaws.

Do not let the reviews get you down (unless you don't have the best PC).

This game is amazing when it runs correctly. I have experienced no major bugs, no weird environmental animations, nothing. I have noticed the majority of the reviews reference it's tough on their system. I also feel some people don't want to admit that they paid a ton of money for a custom PC and it still isn't strong enough, so the game is easier to blame than admit defeat. Basically, if your system can't play one of the most stressing games currently (ie. Star Citizen, etc), this will not be a fun experience.

If your PC can run the game, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ this is fun. Basically, take Ark: Survival Evolved, DayZ, 7 Days to Die and some astronomical goodness, mix them all in a pot and this is the product. It is super fun.

DO NOT LET THE CLOCK SCARE YOU. You will always have enough time to complete the objectives. It really falls down to how much extra time you will have to hunt for valuable exotics and find other things to bring back to sell on the space station. For example, my 7 day (Real time) mission was done pretty fast and I was able to spend the remainder hunting the land. I will make my way back to my ship 24 hours before I need to leave to be safe.

Solo is intense. Co-Op is great.

I do hope they relax on the aggressive wildlife a bit. They are easy enough to kill but they are a general nuisance.

My biggest gripe with the game is honestly with what the premise could have been. When Icarus was first announced, I expected the exact game I received but on a much more exotic world, more like Pandora from Avatar. Instead, we are on a planet with Earth biome's in much more erratic locations with Florida weather at it's worst, and a few yet very cool alien creatures mixed in with Earth based animals. The story-line to explain such things does make sense but I just thought a world with different colors and life would have been cool. I hope they may be able to do something DLC wise.

Anyway, phenomenal game. 10/10 would recommend to a homeslice.

There are clearly some things that can be patched and modified, but my experience with my machine has been excellent and I would even go as far to say that the current price under $30 is a steal for the value.. if you can run the game properly.

One of the most captivating stories I have ever played, right up there with Telltale's The Walking Dead. The game mechanics feel similar to The Division in a way, with a limited but massive landscape to explore. Finishing this game hurt my heart. I will absolutely play this another time in New Game + mode. I do not want this series to end here. We need a sequel. I fell in love with Days Gone.

Final Update: I can finally give Deadside a thumbs-up. Unfortunately, the player pool is low at the moment but the game feels right for once. Do not expect a thorough looting experience and there is alleged cheating in PVP, but the PVE experience is a blast. The fighting is intense, and the weapons handle well. The AI can be worse than players in terms of difficulty so there's plenty of action to be had, almost too much sometimes. There are still plenty of things to work out and improve on but if you have the money to burn or uninstalled this title from your library it's worth a second shot.

Update: Just played 10 months later. A better, smoother experience but still very boring. It is still a walking simulator with some random fights sprinkled in. Control defaults are still a bit funky. I really wanted to love this game but it's still not there.

Released too early. It's a free-for-all killing zone with no real direction. The idea feels like a direct rip from DayZ but amateur. Most of the houses I came across were not accessible at all and the loot system albeit clean is garbage. I had three kills in the first five minutes of playing so my lack of fun was not due to lack of competence. The in-game VOIP is set up awfully in terms of keybinding and no one seems to use it as a result. Also, 25 Sq. km was not big enough for a launch. The kill feed continues to read "[X Person] Knife [Y Person]" because combat is so frequent post spawn. Save your money for now or buy it early and hope for the best but I don't see myself reinstalling for some months at this point if ever. If you appreciate DayZ for what it tries to be you'll hate this game.
