-Review for Familiar Adventure Curator Page-

Sea of Thieves is a game about being a pirate, sailing the seas, looting and shooting, and finding adventure.

CAVEATS
-Online only. Gameplay is all done online in servers set up by the game. A decent internet connection is required.
-No split-screen/couch co-op. This game requires individual accounts to play (both Steam and/or Xbox, the latter can be applied through Xbox consoles as crossplay is possible)
-Online multiplayer. While the game does provide a mode in which players can enjoy the game without any interactions with other players (Safer seas), there is a huge reduction to payouts that the game practically encourages you to play on the high seas while running the risk of other pirates potentially ruining a good adventure.
-Microtransactions. There is currency in the game to be purchased with real money to buy certain outfits, ship customizations, and weapon skins.
-Gameplay can be intense and requires some skill

Gameplay is a bit on the complex side of things. All interactions are done in first person. It follows the simple mechanics of action and actions an FPS game has. Interact with the world search chests and barrels, shoot skeletons and attack with your swords.
The complexity is in the sailing. A boat has multiple vital points a player needs to interact with from sail management to steering to the repairs needed in ship to ship combat. With your party, you work together to traverse and maintain your ship. There is a level of intensity that comes with that at times, especially in heated combat.
And that's it. The combat CAN be intense at times. Because of the online play, other plays can create varying situations. Griefing can happen when playing with other players. There is no setting to prevent that from happening unless playing in Safer Seas, which has that reduced payout.

Story-wise, there is none. It's just an open sea pirate game where you select a quest and go do it. Perfect for easy pickup and play adventures. Times can vary depending on the voyages you take, some taking 15 mins while others take hours.

It's fun when everything goes your way. There are teaching moments buried here whether it works in your favor or not. It's a good time to be had with the right set up for everyone involved. Even with the caveats involved, I still recommend it.

I enjoy a good Picross-like game, especially ones themed around something. While the puzzles are all over the place using generic images to licensed characters, this still scratches that itch. Easy to hop in and out. The only thing missing is maybe a hint system but the thing about nonograms is that you can just trial-and-error the solution eventuially.

I picked this game for the concept alone. A game about characters playing a tabletop RPG. While the premise sounds promising, it doesn't exactly follow that format which would have turned this game into a sim of sorts. What it does present is an amusing Turn Based RPG game of the old days, from classics like Dragon Warrior to D&D.

As someone who actually played D&D for a few years, this game was rather appealing. Select your team of generic players and their class (and will wear a matching hat for said class) and start an adventure. The game provides you what most RPG games tend to have: a sense of direction. You're provided with the main storyline and a few side-quests to pick up some extra gold and exp.

Be warned, this game has micro-transactions. It is not a vital aspect of the game as you can earn gold by farming but it's only optional. I personally do not approve of it but that should not stop other people from doing so. Your money.

If you are looking for a charming, turn-based RPG that is a bit out of the ordinary, check this title out. I'm enjoying it so far.
