Every iteration of Sid Meier's Civilization series brings about new challenges, different mechanics, and new ways to explore, expand, exploit & conquer your way to victory. Civ V however, is not just another iteration. It's a whole new look into the genre that represents a departure from the formula they have been following up to now. Civ II, III, IV are fantastic to me, and I see each one as progressively getting better than the last. With new features, ideas and events that were added to the games, the overall complexity simply became greater. Civ V is the culmination of everything they've learned thus far, while also trying something new. I'd say it's quite the success!

The expansion to Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword brings about a variety of new units, scenarios, and tech that breathes more life and replayability to an already outstanding game. If you're a fan of 4X type games, then you most likely already know, have played, or have heard of Sid Meier's Civilization series, so what more is there to say?

This is more than just a classic... it's historical!

So far, my impression of the game is that of awe. The graphics and gameplay are top-level, particularly on how AotS seeks to differentiate itself from other RTS' through the inclusion of supply lines to ensure you're able to extract resources.

Beware, you'll need some serious gear to really be able to set it to its highest graphic settings!

At this point, after so many hours in the game, without having bought all the DLC (but currently owning a fair amount) I am still left in awe. In many ways it's a massive game to undertake, whether you're just learning how to play or a veteran.

The game is challenging and requires a certain level of planning for the future, since the endgame has quite a few surprises its willing to throw at you, especially when you think you've secured the top spot. Special mention should go out to the fantastic soundtrack, which will certainly elevate your mood to go out into the galaxy to explore, discover, expand, conquer and dominate!

Truly a masterclass of a game in the grand strategy genre.

A challenging game with a rich world of intrigue, desperation, magic and technology. I was particularly engrossed with the fantastic design and attention to detail of the world Corvo inhabits. The gameplay mechanics are smooth and easy to learn, but difficult to master. This game is highly recommended!

It's hard to describe my experience with this game.

It's frustrating, oh how irritating it can be, when you're so close, so VERY CLOSE to beating a level to have screwed up in the most minor of ways that leads to the most catastrophic consequences.

Honestly, once you get to the INSANITY difficulty (and mind you, you've still not reached the highest of difficulties), it's quite the feat to continue to survive, let alone annihilating the hordes of enemies that seek to end your feeble attempts to survive.

And yet I keep coming back for more punishment. This game has it's claws deeply sunk into me and won't let go. I highly recommend it!

As critically acclaimed as the first Mass Effect was, the sequel takes off from the success of its predecessor and adds a whole lot the entire franchise. With a noticeably darker tone in both the story telling and overall atmosphere of the gameplay, I highly recommend to anyone who still hasn't gotten on the Mass Effect bandwagon to get with it already. The harder difficulty can be especially punishing, making the playthrough all the more rewarding.

Four hours into this game and it's definitely worth saying a few things. I'll start with the graphics only because the style in which this world is built is breathtaking. The art direction is watercolours, and do they ever add a fluidity to the movements of The Kid, the silent protagonist of whom you are controlling in this adventure. The colours themselves either have an undeniable shine to them that gently turn into black and white as your health decreases. So does your vision, which I found to be a great mechanic to have.

The story is unique in where a narrator occassionally comments on your actions, while giving the player a sense of direction of where they are going and why. Honestly it's the only sense of direction you are likely to receive, given as to how each level is "summoned" step by step.

A final word would be on the soundtrack. It goes with the game perfectly. What else is there to say?

Get yourself this game if you're a fan of Adventure games!

A familiar face in the Real-Time Strategy genre, the re-release of Age of Empires II is a must have both for its grueling gameplay and nostalgia value.
