I've been following Depths of Faveg for a while and I'm very excited for the full release! This game is a rogue-like purely class-based endeavor, which will surely be a treat for the systems-obsessed gamers out there.

Not only it has a lot of different basic classes to choose from (which go from the typical Warrior to the more interesting Time Mage), but you can also combine them to create and unlock more classes, which keeps the game interesting even after completing a few runs. Be warned, though, since getting there will still probably take you a while: this game is not easy, and messily building your heroes will surely bring you to an early defeat. Thankfully, the runs are short enough to not make it frustrating and, while creating an strategy from scratch will be confusing at first, after repeated runs your knowledge will add up and you'll start feeling more comfortable with the systems—but not too comfy either, since the available classes for each level up are randomized and you'll probably be forced to step out of your comfort zone.

Something I also appreciate is the way resource management works in this game. It's very simple on first sight: HP that doesn't refill on levelup, and MP for healing, attacks and various effects. So, how do you refill MP, which basically amounts for most of the damage you'll do AND that's also the only way for healing your party? You do so by going down another level, which not only means having to fight a boss to descend but also encountering nastier foes down there. This effectively limits the player's grinding and makes them be cautious with their MP use, which is actually pretty smart!

All in all, I feel like the developer managed to create an interesting game loop where players will be forced to make conscious decisions instead of relying on mindless grinding, which I feel is not that usually seen in this kind of RPG nowadays. Combined with the retro style visuals and audio evoking 90s JRPGs, while keeping an accessible user interface that still doesn't immediately spoil the beans on the skills and effects, I'd definitely recommend this to anyone interested in a smaller pick up and play game that still serves as a good brain workout.
