This game was a labour of love. I've been waiting years for a co-op game like this. Wonderful. Highly recommended. I hope they make more.

Early Access Review
I was looking for a game that is mildly addictive and I found it!

On a simplicity scale of 1 to 20 from 1 being simple and shallow and 20 being complex and in depth, I'd say this game scores a 7 and I feel like I'd want it to be more like a 9. I feel like it lacks mechanics that would afford opportunities for creative strategies and ways to achieve things. I wish there were more creative ways to defend from enemies like I don't know, creating a choke and dropping hot oil on them.

There are some things I wish could be prioritised and automated, like husbandry tasks where I would like milking to be last in priority and training in first.

It's a fun little game though. I bought it on a whim when buying Timberborn and deciding to grab the bundle instead. I found Timberborn to be too shallow and simple. I like this game more. I recommend it.

This game was fun!
I'd love to see more levels added that are like Guild Wars 2's Super Adventure Box Tribulation mode.

Well poop. I had 3 weeks of vacation and they all went into playing this. (Granted a lot of that time was spent being a savescummlord) If you are the kind to get addicted to games, definitely only buy this if you have nothing else more important to do because you *will* put your life on hold to play this game.

Another word of advice, if you are a compulsive looter who has to loot absolutely everything, get the "Customizable Auto Loot Aura" mod. It will make the game feel a lot better and progress faster because you won't be spending so much time looking into every container.

Recommended but only on sale. It's a fun little shooter. The mechanics are fun. Unlike many console ports, this plays very well on keyboard and mouse. Don't go in looking for a story. The characters and the premise of the story are tacky as hell. Too many cutscenes. Some QTEs here and there. The gameplay very much makes up for the downsides though.

This game is dumb in a good way. It's a bit slow at the beginning but do stick through it as the humour is worth it.

It's a shame because I can tell that a LOT of effort and love went into making this game but it really fell short for me.

First, let me say that if you cannot handle head bob or shaky cam, do not buy this. It cannot be disabled. It annoyed me at first, but I got used to it. However, this has been the most ridiculous amount of shaky cam I have ever seen in any game.

This is a climbing simulator more than anything else. Not gonna lie, at certain points I felt like I was playing a slow Mirror's Edge.

When I got to the point where I had to do a fetch quest on a structure in the sea, I looked at the objective and blurted out "I have to get there?! Ugh." and that's when I realised that the game's main mechanic had started feeling like a chore. But why? A lot of climbing shouldn't be an issue, but it becomes an issue because...

The story is slow. Or is it too fast? Or is it just bad? I'm not sure. One thing for certain is that it's incredibly transparent. You will have the large majority of the story figured out after the first 2 hours of gameplay and anything you will encounter after that will only serve to confirm your assumptions. (Not spoilers by the way. This happens in the first 30 minutes of gameplay.) What? You mean to tell me that I'm not supposed to know what that dude has in store for this girl he just kidnapped, who she said she was a descendant of the queen who once ruled this island, an island which is filled left right and center with signs of an active cult that is very much into human sacrifice? *Pikachu face* The second she's gone, you know exactly what that's about and congratulations, you've got almost the entire story figured out and they proceed to stretch that intrigue-free story for the whole game. Up until the end, I assumed that there would be this major plot twist because no way they had laid it this bare since the beginning... but nope. They had indeed laid it this bare since the beginning and the plot twist was that there is no plot twist after all. Oh and they kill off a few characters along the way but we don't care because the writers didn't deem it important to get us to care about these characters before disposing of them ; You get to the island and they're gone for the majority of the game, only making a comeback in order to die. "Storytelling" lmao. Then, in what seems like an afterthought or a last ditch effort after realising at the last minute that their storytelling was weak AF, they have you collect these letters around the island that tell you more about these characters and what's been happening on the island than progressing through the story itself does. Imagine thinking that telling instead of showing is a good idea. On the whole, it almost looks like they brought in writers at the last minute and said "Hey so we have this game that has these mechanics and these levels. Can you write a story for it please?" This would be appropriate for a platformer, but this is not a platformer.

Going back to the issue of too much climbing, in addition to all that climbing feeling rather unrewarding because of poor storytelling, they have you do a whole damn lot of climbing and looking around and backtracking and climbing again to find all these thingamajigs that add nothing to the story and don't really add much to the gameplay either aside from being an excuse to have you climb places. Aaaand that about sums up side objectives in this game. Unless you're hurting for XP (You're not.) don't go out of your way to grab those if you don't feel like it.

There are QTEs sequences. QTE gameplay is lazy gameplay. If you need QTEs to enhance your cinematics then you have serious questions to ask yourself, the main one being "Why do I feel the need to ruin my game's cinematics with this god awful mechanic that is unrewarding, distracting and just flat out frustrating when failed?". On top of that, the majority of the QTE segments in this game are bad. Some of them you will ask yourself why tf did that need to be a QTE (looking at you, rando QTE on that one and only rope on the beach that's made even worse by a really messed up camera angle). A lot of them went something like this for me : "Oh sweet a cutscene. I'm gonna scratch my no... I'm dead." There is no difference in presentation between short cutscenes where an event plays out and you have no control of the character, i.e. sliding down a slide, and QTE segments, i.e. sliding down a slide OH BUT NOW IT HAS QTEs. The number of times I realised way too late that the game was requiring me to do something other than just watch is too damn high. There are times when QTEs are appropriate (i.e. Mass Effect series, combat parry or finishers) but random times during gameplay and cinematics are NOT part of them. Surprise QTEs are like surprise bumsecks. No one likes that.

Combat is ok. It could be better but it's not really that type of game you know?

Not a big deal to me, but the character progression is really lackluster. The perks are unrewarding and barely meaningful. You get the most useful ones very early in the game and after that it's just whatever. I was playing on hard but I did not feel like the perks I was getting made a difference in how I played and experienced the game. It didn't take anything away from the game but it didn't add much to it either.

Conclusion :
This game sits in a very weird spot for me. It's not an outright bad game, but it's not an exceptionally good one either. I definitely think that it doesn't deserve the rating it has. When a friend asked me to make that a nice poop sandwich, I seriously struggled to point out anything that the game does really well. It looks nice for a 2013 game. That's about it. I played most of it in one go and it was just good enough to retain my attention but little more. If I wake up the next morning and I'm not itching to finish a game, to me it's a bad thing. There is no point in which I felt like I had a lot of fun. It kept me distracted is how I would put it. I don't think I will be revisiting this title in the future.

To sum it all, I think that better storytelling would have gone a long way in improving the experience of this game. With better storytelling, the progression through the game wouldn't have felt as tedious, there would have been no need to make players run around collecting thingamajigs for no reason and there would have been no need to use QTEs to "enhance" cinematics.

Although it's been years since I played Uncharted 1-2-3, I remember finding those games much more enjoyable.

Get this game when it's like $5. Don't get it at full price.

Wow! Bien joué! Finalement un jeu situé au Québec! J'adore les références à l'histoire Québécoise! Et je dois avouer que le jeu donnait la frousse tout le long!
