Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is a game I enjoyed, but it left me with a lingering feeling of a missed opportunity. The story is decent but falls short of delivering the epic narrative it had the potential to achieve. The main villain, Jonathan Irons, stands out as one of the best in the series. Kevin Spacey's performance was exceptional and convincingly brought the character to life.

The graphics are impressive, particularly the pre-rendered cutscenes featuring real actors—they elevate the visual storytelling to a new level. The gameplay is solid, though, much like Black Ops 3, the futuristic setting doesn't feel particularly compelling. Despite this, the game offers a variety of well-designed missions set in interesting locations.

Unfortunately, most of the characters are forgettable, with the exceptions of Gideon, Irons, and perhaps Ilona. However, Ilona's heavy-handed russian accent is unpleasant to listen to, and her involvement in the plot often feels forced. A prime example is the mission set in Santorini, Greece, which had the potential to be spectacular but was marred by her constant presence and chatter.

Overall, Advanced Warfare feels like a passable entry in the series. It’s reminiscent of Call of Duty: Ghosts—despite a lackluster story, it was still oddly enjoyable. Here, we have an engaging antagonist, decent missions, and a passable story, yet the game ultimately doesn’t leave a lasting impression. These were two strange years for the Call of Duty franchise.

Call of Duty: Ghosts gives off a sense of wanting to be loved, but something is missing. The story feels clichéd and unrealistic, and while the characters have cool names, they’re ultimately forgettable due to their lack of distinctive appearances. They don’t stand out enough to form a real connection, and the ending is both unclear and disappointing, leaving a lot of unresolved questions and making it hard to feel satisfied with the conclusion.

That said, the setting is enjoyable, and several missions are memorable. Although the core concept has been done before, they still manage to be fun and engaging. I was also excited about Riley, the dog, but it only appears in a few missions, which felt like a missed opportunity. The dog could have played a much bigger role, adding more depth to the gameplay and the emotional experience, but instead, its presence is underused.

Despite its drawbacks, it’s still fun and worth playing for fans of the series.
