A friend of mine suggested this game for our group, and I downloaded it. I always go into any game with a F2P model skeptical. I agree with the with some of the other reviews, that the free version is essentially a demo, but it's a very good demo. Functionally, you have access to all game modes except for custom matches and ranked pvp, and you only have access to a limited roster of characters that cycles each week. This free version is ample to decide whether or not you like the game enough to pay the $30 for the full version.

For me, I watched the animated intro video (Which I loved. The characters have simple personalities, but they're enjoyable. Except for Helio. Helio can go suck a ♥♥♥♥, with his "I smelt it, I dealt it, yooooooooou felt it! HUEHUEHUE!") I played the tutorial and the bot game... and immediately bought the full version.

I can't recommend Atlas Reactor enough. The pace is fast and fun, and the games are short enough that you can catch a quick match and not have to invest a huge portion of time into it. It's tactical, and planning with your team is a must. I've yet to play in solo queue, but our group of four communicates and coordinates over voice chat. The integration with Discord, to form a channel with your group, is a brilliant idea but I have yet to try it out.

The only feature I'm disappointed doesn't exist is the ability to spectate a game. Our group consists of more than four people so it'd be nice for the folks sitting out to be able to be able to watch their friends. As it is, spectating through steam has worked well enough but an integrated spectating mode would be nice.

Looking forward to seeing what freelancers come out next!

I'll be honest, I went into this with no hope of liking this game in the slightest. Ended up receiving it as a gift, and after a heeeeavy amount of convincing, I found out that I am, in fact, a masochist! Who knew? 9/10
