Personally, for me, the game is a lot more optimized. My frames are consistently above 60. Before, they would waver down to 40 or so. The game is heavy but I've not had any cpu issues using Ryzen 5 3600 . The task manager says it uses about 40-50% for monster hunter.

The expansion itself is great. I love the new monsters and sub species. They're all so fast, it keeps the game exciting. The new combat mechanics are also great. I especially love the grapple.

All in all, I strongly recommend getting this expansion. Can't wait for the new monsters to come and cart me for another 100+ hours!
