EARTH DEFENSE FORCE: IRON RAIN, is definitely mixed within the Steam community, however, even with the bad reviews I decided to give it a try and I really do like it. Comparing this game to the original EDF series is like comparing the Metal Gear Solid series with Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, come from the same franchise, but almost, if not everything, has been turned upside down. I haven't completed all of the levels yet, but from what I hear there are less levels than the other original EDF games, which I am fine with to be perfectly honest.

As for the grinding aspect, yes I do find it quite tedious that there will be DLC weapons that pop up in your inventory to "unlock" but you can't because you don't own the DLC. I don't mind if you try to advertise your game, but don't just throw in weapons that we can't unlock because we don't own the DLC.

The insects, or ravagers if you will, are more detailed than in EDF 4.1/5 at the expense of less enemies throughout the whole level, which to some people might be a good thing and to others it might not be. Instead of jumping spiders they are wolf spiders (I believe), which on some occasions drop spiders that just run into your DM and explode. They also have other ravagers as well, but I won't spoil the rest, but of course you can look up more videos online.

The last topics are the grinding for weapons. Sure instead of instantly unlocking them, you have to actually save up credits to buy them, in which some cases can be completely annoying. HOWEVER, if you look back at EDF 4.1/5 (Mainly EDF 5) you realize that the grind is almost the exact same. In Iron Rain, for example, your armor increases as you buy levels, while in EDF 4.1/5 have multipliers and you have to run after armor crates. Weapons, especially in EDF 5, have levels that you can upgrade to bring the weapon to its true potential, but you have to be lucky enough to get that, in EDF 4.1 there isn't an upgrade system, but the chances of you getting that weapons begins to decrease the more weapons you unlock (or so I am told). While in Iron Rain, you instantly unlock the weapons after completing a level, but then you have to buy them in order to use them, meaning if you think really hard about it, they are about the same consecutive grind for both games.

Overall, I do love this game and would recommend it if you are looking for something new, or if you just love the EDF series I say go for it, especially if it is on sale, but if it isn't I still say it is a fun game. The one major problem I have had with it though is my mouse will sometimes not register when I go to click the left or right mouse button, in which I hope the developers will fix that sooner rather than later. Other than that, great game, and I will continually play it in the future!

After playing this game, the game has actually showed me something that I personally don't believe i truly would have found in myself. It sounds crazy but the truth is, this just opened up a whole new window to me, this game is not only cheap but also a very good one at that, amazing game definitely recommend.

While I do recommend this game because I see so much potential in this game. Of course it is brand new so you have to give them time. For example whenever I try to play a match it either says connection pending failed, or connection timeout. This is of course a normal process, I am a little sad however I was really hoping that we would be able to play a lot with little bugs. However there is a lot of bugs, which of course is no big deal, it is a new game after all. Not to mention it requires me to go back into the steam store and it is constantly updating after each game, which of course could be a normal process. Looking pass all of the bugs and the "apparent" connection issues, it is such a fun game, and there is just so much potential in this game, keep it up GlowStick entertainment, we can't wait to see what you bring next. However, please, please, PLEASE, fix these bugs so we can play more than one match without having to exit out of the match and restart the whole program.
