This game was incredible.. but some things really got to me.
Disclaimer: minor gameplay spoilers, nothing from story

In short: After completeing my home, and completeing the story. I feel fulfilled yet wanting more. This game rewards you immensely for going off the beaten track, if you can see one that is haha. I hear this game is great with friends but I played solo. Lumberjack simulator with fair amounts of hints of danger. Don't forget to save at a bed or shelter you've made frequently. Always prepare for the worst, no such thing as being too prepared in this wilderness.

In full:
When I first woke up from the beginning of the story.. you were literally thrown into this beautiful wilderness we know as 'The Forest', and my Subnautica mind kicked in almost immediately: Make a shelter, do I need tools?, get some food somehow, hows my water, can I do this before night? Alot of things flooded into the cranium and I was hooked into this game immediately. As night came, they arrived.. I wasn't ready for them and ended up running along a coast line until I dipped into a big pond and lost them as I stayed under the water as long as my breathe would allow. Day came and I made some progress on something resembling a place I can at least hide for the night. I learned you can sleep in this game but it goes off of when you did it last over if it's night or day. Fast forward to having this small cabin made with a defensive wall around it, bordering a deep pond so my foes can't get in my base but I have access to water I can boil, my ambitions get bigger... fast forward till about 3 or 4 days of gameplay from the times of this review, I finished my log cabin, log for log, rock for rock, it's a masterpiece imo that took alot of finesse with the building mechanics of this game (it has a very elaborate custom log building system, probably the best building system in any game I've ever played! Impressive 11/10). I knew it was time to proceed with the story...

I should add in between all of those happenings I mentioned above, I cave dived to explore and got quite rewarded for my efforts.. I'll let you figure out the rest but in conclusion with this remark: Save at a bed or tent/shelter before you go down. Be sure spare underwear is available irl lol.

In short, this game is the Dark Souls of City Management games. You will fail but learn again and again, but literally each time it's something critical and often its something you didn't think of. It is quite an enjoyable game however, it feels like the world is lost, everything is lost really. The world as we have known it, complete and total societal collapse, and all the stands in it's way for the remainder of mankind, is you. Be prepared for emotional damage, but mostly you'll feel frustration for beating yourself up why you did something the way you did.. it is not unexpected to take breaks from the game from time to time, but your people, and the game itself, calls to you to persevere. This game's music is incredible. Uplifting, sort of sad, but very grounded into what this game is about. You are against the clock, certain death will grip your town if you dally, win the day by sticking to it and you'll feel like a million bucks!

Seriously not a game for everyone. Very dry and didn't really appeal to my kind of game. Thought this was a hack and slash kind of game with RPG elements and a compelling story. With the reviews as they are, it deserved a shot and all I can say is don't waste your time on this if you expect some kind of rewarding experience.

Pros:
-Cool setup of the world and why your there as 2B, the protagonist.
-Get serious old school Metal Gear Solid vibes from the menus. It was a pleasant throwback.
-Combat can be fun.
-As a man of culture and whose chill, theirs alot of 2am thoughts that enter my mind when I see the fan service this game hashes out sometimes, or it's just the internet has ruined me.

Cons:
-Into to the game is practically non-existent with necessary tutorials with how intuitive they made the combat for this game. Expect to die alot if you expect some hot-tip to show up to help you, and looking in the controls as well in the settings in confusing but you might find your answers in there.
-Low effort texture designs on your surroundings. Looks like it's incomplete from a particular point of view, or perhaps the Earth is just that boring looking.
-You will need to learn to climb a ladder the hard way. You won't be prompted on how to use it your first time around (or ever really).
-I didn't like the bartering system at all. All these items you get from loot off your enemies or from the environment, their is no instruction or handbook to refer to as to why you need certain things. It was exhausting looking at wikis to know if I needed anything rare to keep I had on me and what I could sell to get some juicy upgrades. or equipment.
-Story didn't really evolve in any obvious way even after hitting checkpoints and proceeding through the mission. I questioned the point as to why I was here and 3 hrs+ in this playthough, I still didn't get an answer.

Overall the game fought me in all the ways I find enjoyable to embrace this game as a timesink, but it just kept rubbing me the wrong way. Go play Subnautica if you want a great, terrifying player experience to detox from this game if you felt the way I felt. Always give things a fair shake though.

Folks love to focus on the negatives of the game and quite frankly, don't see the point of the game. I've played this when it first launched in the Microsoft Store a few years back, before this was called the 'Juggernaut Edition' for a couple hundred hours. It was just as entertaining as it was back than as it is now, with some extra things here and there to spice things up. Long story short, this game is a sandbox game of Zombie Survival. Do you like it to be a real challenge? Their are mode modifier that can make it a taxing experience. Love the idea of building a base when the world's gone to hell? You can do that too (in certain locations). Want to play with your crew or friends? While it needs to be played in Singleplayer to build up a character for a little bit, you can play in in one of your mates games and not steal from his loot but instead add to your own stockpile back at his base to make your experience just as enriching as the host. It's a game that can be whatever you want it to be, and at the end of the day, you want to enjoy the game. I think you will enjoy the donuts out of this game if you love construction, zombie survival, RPG elements, and emotional investment.

Imagine that you are Max Payne, a man whose lived a rather horrible life and is not all there, but he is one hell of a survivor. That is Issac, so this is glorious piece of story is Max Payne in space. 11/10. Awesomest-sauce.

This game is basically Eve Online without any ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ really. It's addicting, entertaining, alot of reward you get for alot of work, infinite customization of your ships and even building your own space stations! Their is a snag.. I am only playing with 2 people on our own world server that can support 8 people, and were running into terrible net-code issues where certain areas can't be loaded, and if it's close to that limit, it will lock up your game like you got a ping of 9999. I can't wait to see what rests on the horizon with this game and me and my crew are having a serious love-hate relationship with that one issue I mentioned in the last sentence. It's rare to find a game so rewarding, yet it won't let you play in peace sometimes.

9/10 Chill game

Played this game with a group of friends for a bit, long story short, I'm quite pleased as to how well made this game is. It can only get better! The only reason why I'm not playing this game proactively is that I hit the end of the progression of the game. I'm not a gamer who has self imposed rules for how I play survival games outside of these tenets:

-When crafting your base, build around the environment. Do not damage it.
-The opposition will face everything I can muster against them. If I'm loaded on resources, they will face the might of my 1 billion rockets and missiles as I build a hanger for my Capital Ship On-world.
-No mods on first playthrough. Afterwords, they must be balanced.

The game itself:
Reminds me of the days of Command and Conquer Tiberian Sun, and Red Alert 2 graphics days. Except it's scaled on a huge scale. It brings a smile to my face, and the dangers I meet and need to overcome bring the necessary heat under my ass to fabricate plans and projects to overcome those obstecles. In the process of my exploration and mining/exploitation, I find interesting space stations, moon bases, on-world alien trade bases, this game speaks my language on how much I love to trade in general. It's wonderful to trade something we don't need for something that could be useful later on. The overall feel of the game is terrifying, and addictive. If your a person who loves sandbox building games like Minecraft (Modded or Vanilla), Space Engineers, Rust, 7 Days to Die, etc.. You are going to love this game. I'm tempted to come back to this game after all the updates from a year ago that were made to it. After seeing the grow lights in the images, I remember how big of a farmer I was for my group.

Gameplay on Survival:
Challenging, Nerve Racking, Exciting, Mysterious, Puzzling at times (in a good way), Great mechanics, and Dangerous. Everything to keep you on your toes! A good balance of experiences in excitement and terror are sure to be had. A tip to the wise, bring stuff you won't miss when exploring. It will not feel like much of a loss if you die than. You'll respawn back at your base once you have all the approriate machines made.

I honestly could go on, but I'll give you my pros and cons of the game. Your experiences may vary of course. I just love RPG/Exploration games so much, I might focus a bit much on one element more than another... you understand:

Pros:
-Survival is amazing overall.
-A simplifed Space Engineers; more forgiving, but overall bigger game world than SE.
-Ship design is quite nice. Spent many hours designing task specific crafts. Love the ability to make a blueprint simply by depositing resources into the file in your menu so that you wouldn't need to fuss over building the ship piece by piece, and have it be made as a whole after so much time has elapsed for it to be built (that seems fair, function works very well in servers. Single player, not so much).
-Amazing enemy bases/outposts to loot.
-Trade mechanic is amazing!
-Alot of interesting worlds to settle on.
-Crazy fun when playing with friends.

Cons:
-Need more designs for the light, medium, and heavy armored space suits.
-Need an option to enable time offline and online your game if your playing a Single Player game world. That way, the blueprints we wish to make, but take countless hours to produce, can be made when we go to bed or go to work, etc.. I think this is a fair mechanic btw.
-I'm on the fence about this suggestion: Have a way to compile all resources harvested from auto-miners on a world into a single location. Making it crazy expensive could make it a good balanced mechanic equal to how expensive the auto-miners are like I think.
-Fell through the world a couple of times. Exiting and leave game world solved it. Just annoying really. Mainly at events.

That's all I got :)

This game is an amazing game if you need to occupy your mind for a week or two. I couldn't believe how much it taxed my system though, RAM wise. Consider getting some more DDRM3 sticks to play the large maps, it will be worth it. Too bad I only got 1 slot left and I need to be frugal lol. If a game hits over 60+ hrs for about $30 or even $50, it's worth the investment to expand that time for a bigger experience.
