If you're alright with an experience roughly 3 or so hours long on a single playthrough, I can wholeheartedly recommend the game. My biggest complaint is that there just isn't that much content there, don't get anything but the $15 option if you want to play it right now.

As you can see from my time played, if you like replaying missions to achieve different objectives and learn new things about the map, you can get a ton out of the game. The map doesn't feel as big as the marketing made it out to be, but there's plenty of space to experiment with for things.

Overall, I would compare the game to MGS:GZ (in a good way, I loved GZ). It's a taste of what's to come, and one of the most solid stealth levels I've played through in a long time.

Update after the game is finished:

I cannot recommend the game anymore. Half the levels were lazy in their execution, and the devs stumbled at every turn in delivering on content. The issues with the always online system were never resolved, and out of the entire game, only a handful of missions are any good.

If you want to play the game, get the first level, second level, and last level. Skip everything else, it's not worth the time.

When the game actually functions properly, this is the best Assassin's Creed game to come out in a long time, at least machanically.

You have more control over your movement (still needs work though), the combat is actually a challenge at times, and you're not the overpowered demigod that you were in previous iterations of the series. It's the only Assassin's Creed game I actually enjoyed since Brotherhood. If everything went right, it would have been a step in the right direction.

However, as everyone knows, it didn't. The game has performance issues across almost everyone's machines for no discernable reason, and it's filled with bugs at every turn.

I was lucky. Maybe my computer runs on black magic or something, but at 1080p, almost max settings, I was able to get about 45-60 fps for the vast majority of the game. My computer however is likely just a fluke, as people with even stronger machines struggle to get that speed in the same conditions. I was also lucky enough to actually not encounter a single game breaking bug during my playthrough, the only bug I found was one time a NPC was running down the street, arms and legs stretched, flailing them like a necromorph.

Based -solely- on my experience with this game and not the experience others have had, I have to recommend it, but it is the most cautious recommendation of all time. I know that for most of the people reading this, your experience will not reflect mine. Honestly? Wait a few years until a new generation or two of video hardware comes out before picking this up. By then, maybe you'll be able to just throw enough hardware at the game where the performance issues won't matter as much.

Fantastic port, sets a great precedent for future Metal Gear titles coming to PC. Visually the game is incredible, even in 4k the textures are sharp and clear (aside fom the character models in places). The game itself is one really well put together stealth level, really love how it plays out.

The game is, of course, short, but everyone already knew that going in. For the price though, I would say it's worth it (I say this during a sale).

A word of caution: Even though the game runs incredibly well, the options in the options menu have negligible performance benefit. Either it runs or it doesn't, changing settings won't take it from 20 to 60 no matter what you do. Maybe that will be fixed with future patches, but if you want to see some numbers, look at the tweaking guide Nvidia put out for the game.

After a lot of time playing this game, I can wholeheartedly recommend it. It's really well put together, the soundtrack is incredible, and the complexity is a true strength of the game.

You start out as either the Eco or Tycoons, and spread your influence over a series of islands, competing for natural resources in a race to build up as quickly as you can. Resources are king in this game, and if an island that has a resource you require is small, you're going to possibly start a war with the other players over control of it.

Combat in the game definately isn't a strength, it's basic at best. The units are generally very simple and don't allow for much micromanagement, it's clearly not meant to be a focus of the game. It's there, but it feels like it's only there because it needs to be. If you want to play a game like this with a larger combat focus, Civilization is a better fit.

Speaking of Civilization, it's a very good way to judge this game. Anno in general as a series is very much as if someone asked what if Civilization was more like a traditional RTS, as opposed to a hex map, turn based game.

If you want to see some gameplay and are new to the series, I highly recommend looking up NanoSuitNinja's Anno 2070 beginner's guide on youtube, it goes over the game very well.

The biggest downside about the game is the DRM, specifically Uplay. The Tages DRM was removed a while back, but Uplay remains. I haven't personally had issues with it since getting the game, but that's not to say others won't.

Overall, for what it is, I really enjoy playing the game. Definately had a better time with it than I did with Beyond Earth so far (review written before any expansions to Beyond Earth came out). If you're a fan of large scale macro focused games set in the future, I highly recommend giving at least the demo a try.

Warning: The DLC complete pack does -not- include the Deep Ocean expansion pack, which is really the only DLC that matters. If you can, get it with that, it adds a lot to the game's tech, adds taking over others' islands by buying them out economically, and adds underwater resource gathering. Being able to buy out other islands is a very welcome addition and a way to take an island while avoiding the pretty basic combat.
