No one ever talks about the monetization of this game. It tries to have it's premium expansion-model cake AND a slice of free-2-play pie at the same time.

"B-buh No Subscription" you probably hear repeated ad-f$$king nauseum. And that's all you ever hear people talk about. No mention of the huge array of pay-for-convenience features in the cash shop, like infinite gathering tools, bank and inventory and crafting ingredient inventory expansions, etc, etc...

And especially no one ever mentions the Living World Seasons, which any other MMO would include under the patches for a given expansion. You'll note that they're not shown for sale here on steam. Nah, you have to get 100hrs deep and hit level 80 before you realize that to continue the story in the proper order that it was told, your expansion/DLC purchases mean nothing, shell out for the individual season as a separate $$$ purchase. Or you could skip it and miss out on swathes of content as well as story.

Apparently the LW seasons were given for free to people who were there when they released, which I'm sure was nice if you didn't Miss Out. Funny how people say this game has no FOMO.

I am writing this at 4AM. I have to be up for work in three hours. It is too late for me. Flee while you can.

I was having fun until EVERY enemy became a bullet sponge that takes an entire mana bar to kill.

I hope you like rubberbanding constantly if you don't happen to live directly on top of the server datacenter. The game's (lack of) high-ping handling is genuinely atrocious.

Really, truly, a fantastic game. It's everything I hoped for when I bought the early access version years ago.

Cheers to Larian for giving this as a freebie to all early access adopters.
And dang, the pricetag on this is pretty good for a deluxe edition even without that fact.

Not even two hours in and I got an achievement for violating a fundamental law of physics. Amazing.
