me like wash of power

this game is such a buggy mess. i absolutely do not recommend playing it if you even remotely enjoy having fun. constant game-breaking bugs, disconnects, and rude ass degenerate players. avoid at all costs if you haven't already spent money on it.

to my pleasant surprise, this game is NOT just a lethal company clone!

if you're looking at base level, sure, there are similarities, but anyone directly comparing the games and trying to decide which one is "better" honestly misses the point and does them both a disservice. if you liked the vibes of lethal company and are looking for something to play alone or with friends that's a little more sophisticated mechanically and has fun physics, spooky ambience, and cute little trashcan robots, you should pick this game up.

edit: 78 hours played and my initial thoughts still stand! this game has only gotten better with more updates and ended up being one of my favorite games this year. easily a 9/10 for me with the missing 1 honestly being due to my own personal skill level when playing solo. i'd definitely recommend playing with some pals as going it alone means that making even one mistake can completely end your run, but if that's the challenge you like then you'll probably enjoy it even on your own!

everything the player character owns tells pieces of a story, and every move into a new place is the beginning of a new chapter that slowly paints a portrait of the person they grow into.

this game is very easy to just jump in and complete quickly if that's how you'd like to play it, but it's also relaxing to dive into what each item means to the person who owns it and place everything with purpose and care. there's even an option to remove the (already very open ended!) puzzle feature and just place things wherever you'd like, but I would recommend not doing so as it is really the only "challenge" that the game has and since things are still never fully locked to one spot, it's just more of a guideline system.

I thoroughly enjoyed the music in each move, and the sound design that went into this game was so obviously a labor of love that shows in the incredible detail given to the individual sounds of the items you place. every sound is so accurate that any fidelity lost in the translation of the game's pixel design was made up for by the fact that you could hear exactly what you were picking up and what it was sitting on.

in summary, my only complaint isn't even a complaint at all, I just wish there were more levels to unpack because I enjoyed every moment of playing this game and I fully recommend picking it up if you like calm, 'play at your own pace' type games that let you fill in the blanks of the story through personal discovery.
