It is indeed anime Dark Souls.

Anime Dark Souls 2, but without what made DS2 good. Finished the game now and started NG+, so here are my thoughts.

Same criticism DS2 received can be applied to this game: wonky hitboxes, the game being hardcore trivialized by co-op, most bosses being average at best, weird enemy placement, overusage of ambushes etc. Also the AI partners don't shut up, the default keyboard & mouse controls are horrible (Rshift+F1 to F8 for gifts, really?) and the critical/visceral animations take years to perform. Combat overall is pretty meh.

Comparing this game to Souls is basically an insult to the Souls series. It's way closer to God Eater than anything. If you like Souls, chances are you might hate Code Vein. Or maybe love it. I personally hate it. But if you come from God Eater, there's a high chance you'll like it.

But the character customization is amazing. You can more or less create your perfect husbando or waifu.

A great souls-like game. The combat is fast paced and incredibly fun, with the stances adding depth. Great replayability through Twilight Missions and NG+ difficulties, which continue to scale up to NG++++ (Way of the Nioh). There is also a Diablo-like loot system, which adds a bit of a grind for those intrested.

Main Game: 8/10
Dragon of the North DLC: 2/10
Defiant Honor DLC: 7/10
Bloodshed's End DLC: 8/10

Imagine adding 51% overall attack seal in the shop, which of course you can stack, while in KR Icarus it's 3% at maximum.
