game is fun when you don't have nerds in your ear complaining about kernel level anti-cheat

I do not recommend this game at $20, but I recommend the game on its own. Visuals are great, gameplay is smooth and fun, and has the original awesome rave/breakbeat soundtrack. TxK is still better and I think there should be a mashup version between this and TxK as both have great visuals and soundtracks.

I would NOT label this game as Steam Deck supported. Getting this to work took me like 15/20 minutes of trying to see what works and what doesn't.

These are the steps I used to get it to work and also work with music (copy pasted from some posts on the forum):
--
-Install the game as standard. Navigate to the install folder in desktop mode and under both versions (Windows 7/8 and Windows 10 folders), open the Assets folder and rename the Atari video to something like old-Atari.mp4.

-Use Protonup-QT in desktop mode (install from the discover store) to grab Proton 6.12-GE-1.

-On internal SSD, (not your SD card location) navigate to (deck\.local\share\Steam\steamapps\compatdata\688140) and delete this folder.

-Go back to steam game mode, and choose Proton 6.12-GE-1 version of Proton under the compatibility options for Tempest 4000.

-Restart steam deck then play.

amazing audio/visual experience. game's sound design is terrifying and impressive. insanely cool "crystalized" cosmic horror sort of style going on. game is challenging and fun but worth picking up for the audio/visual experience alone.

Amazing presentation and aesthetic
Soundtrack is good, wish it was a bit more interesting but it is a unique direction
Visuals are good
gameplay is really good and very fun once you get the hang of all the mechanics

Wish most of the game was like the final boss in terms of intensity
Easily beat the game with only like a few things unlocked in the skill tree
Environments repeat a little too much and the game ends a little earlier than it should
Unfortunately way too short, I dont count "speedrun" modes or replaying levels as extra content. This game could have been probably perfect if there was an extra 1 to 2 chapters that had a completely different environment

worth picking up though for the vibe alone

Did not expect to enjoy the game as much as I have so far.

Gameplay is a ton of fun, very fast, agile and frantic.

Difficulty is challenging but fair.

Graphics are great, I'm a fan of the over-use of volumetric lighting. It looks like a mid-2000's era game but drenched in lighting. Artistically, some of the coolest environments I've seen in a game in a long time.

Music is fitting and pretty good, sound design is great.

Runs great on bottlenecked systems, well optimized with DLSS and works with ultrawide.

Story is not that great but it's not a dealbreaker for me.

I find most warhammer games pretty meh but this one is honestly worth playing. I've always been interested in budget/AA(?) games and this is not only a good budget game, but a good game.

Picked up on a sale for $25 and so far it's worth it to me.

Edit: Beat the game and the ending isn't that great however I dont really care as the game itself was fun enough.

good
grafix r good
good driving
pretty optimized, even on bottlenecked systems, not a CPU intensive game

not good:
launch game-isms:
crashes (disable precision X1 if you use it)
crossplatform makes cars disappear so having a convoy is broken atm
server crashes (random disconnects)

I'm usually a fan of these lesser known games made by smaller developers or games that just about good ol' innocent racing.

What I like:
Racing can be fun
big trucks, cool cars
sound design is alright
graphics are ok
the big tracks are awesome, big jumps, good speed

what I dont like:
stadium races, esp the 1v1, super boring
races are also a bit too short

racing physics are weird, you tend to kick the rear out pretty easy and not a single car has enough torque to drift the corners. I think this game could benefit from a bit more weight in the physics for sure. Nothing wrong with a Sim-Cade game but I think this game would benefit more to go in one direction instead of both. Either full arcade or full sim.

This game suffers from an identity crisis (or lack of) and doesn't really excel in anything at all. Although I think I like this game more than I dislike it.
I think this game is fine if you want a mindless racing game and you pick it up on a deep sale.
