As someone with an embarrassing number of otome games and other visual novels under my belt, I found myself extremely charmed by this game - especially as a stat raiser from a Western game dev team!

Normally I don't have a ton of interest in "generic" routes in VNs (at least where romance/LIs are available, since in a lot of games they don't get the same quality of storytelling), but after playing the main routes for each of the 3 LIs I'm unexpectedly just as fascinated by the lore of the game as I am by the characters themselves. You really grow to care about the whole cast, sometimes to devastating effect, which is truly a credit to the writers. While each romance route and ending stood out for its own unique reasons, I want to particularly call out the strength of the banter between characters - many conversations are absolutely sparkling with wit, and made me laugh by being truly funny rather than just surprising.

Looking forward to unpacking even more of the mystery, but can definitely say this was already well worth both the time and the money spent :)

I just wrote a substantial review regarding my disappointment with this game (indeed, "disappointment" is the only word I can think of that describes it) only to have it eaten by my Steam client after hitting "post review."
I'll attempt to come back and edit my thoughts back in later, but the gist is as follows:

tl;dr So if the hero-raising mechanic feels like an impersonal chore, and the battle mechanics feel like a tedious grind...then what on earth is the point?
