♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, the exploration, the world, the setting, the story, the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ background details! This DLC is amazing, some of the best rainworld I've ever played. The branching paths in the story from what I've seen from other playthroughs are impressive, and I think people will have very different routes through this campaign. I am incredibly satisfied with the absolutely adorable ending I got, and a very interesting final region!

An awesome game. The story is discovered through repeated exploration of the solar system, and as you discover more story, you uncover new information that lets you access new places or solve new puzzles. An excellent integration of puzzle gameplay into the setting and story reminiscent of the better games of the Myst series, and then taken to their logical conclusion. The story you discover and experience is amazing, and the music is incredible. Wholeheartedly recommend.

This is the game from my childhood. I grew up with this. I thought I'd see it through rose-tinted goggles, and when I came back to it I'd not find it to be as great as I thought it was when I was young, but man. This game. It is just as good as I remember it, and with tight PC controls, updated framerates and slightly improved graphics, this is all I've wanted for the past few years...

Planetary Annihilation just took a titanic step forward. I'm glad that Uber finally took the time to do all this extra work that they had never promised anyone they would do. The community has been talking about things like this for a looong time, and Uber has gone pretty above and beyond in listening. The only area I think needs more love at the moment is orbital, though it has definetly improved. I'm glad they took a hint from the popularity of my Orbital Warfare Overhaul mod (shameless plug). I'm massively enjoying the new units, balance and gamplay this expansion provides. I will update this review once I get more time to play around with all the new toys!

Updating an out of date Review:

This is honestly my favorite game of all time. Ever. It combines everything I want to see in a game into, well, a game. Specifically one I like. But for some reason, not EVERYONE shares my views on EVERYTHING ( I know, weird, right?), so here is a compilation of why PA is awesome, and the problems it still has.

PA has no unit cap. None at all. You can build 4000 factories and with those factories infinitely spam out units if you so wanted, and the game would not stop you. In fact, the only thing standing in your way, is either:
a) your computer
b) your internet
c) the server you just killed by building over 10000 units and trying to get them to do something.

PA (now) has singleplayer offline mode. Yes, you can play offline now. The only problem is you need a rig that meets the reccommended requirements to get a reasonable experience.

PA has interplanetary warfare and interaction. Ever wanted to fling a planet at someone? Well now you can. There are litterally no downsides here.

PA is incredibly moddable. You can make whole new units/balances/metas/UIs/Biomes for PA. Once again, no downsides.

PA is a macro-oriented game. It's more about base-building and army management than click-spammy micro where whoever clicks the best and fastest wins. In PA, you need to be good at strategy, assess your opponent's weaknesses before he discovers yours and strike from an unexpected side, or two sides, or from space. If you love SC2 because of its micro and want something similar in all your RTS games, this isn't really the game you're looking for.

PA has a somewhat steep learning curve, unless you've played similar games before. (TA, SupCom, SupCom FA, etc.) It also has effectively no tutorial, so you need to play for a few hours (preferably against a freind, the AI is pretty mean to new players) before you start understanding what's going on. After that, it is a highly enjoyable game.

PA has a competetive ranked system (just implemented) it's a fun way to prove yourself against others! Not as fleshed out as it could be, but we're looking forward to more improvements in the coming months. Also, if more players played ranked, we'd have a better ranked system simply due to population density.

PA's Devs are highly invested in the game and are constantly talking with the community on their forums. PA has a great community, and great community-dev interaction (I think we can all thank Jables for this!).

All in all, I'd give this game an 8.5/10. Yeah that's right, my favorite game of all time got a 8.5 out of 10, even I can see that there are issues with it. Although it's a little buggy at times (mostly if your drivers are out of date), it's not completely balanced yet, and the UI in some cases could use a decent bit of work, it is the only game I own where I consistently come back to it week after week and constantly take part in the community. I would highly reccomend this game if you are into this kind of RTS.
