First of all, I absolutely love this game. It's a nice shooter and the physics and teamplay aspects are well done. half the time dying is hilarious and the other half disastrous, which I approve of. Nothing quite like not noticing the hellbomb is armed and being launched across the map, lol. the satire is on point and the ongoing story makes a huge difference compared to similar games. the player community is pretty great too, I rarely play multiplayer because of other players but Helldivers are pretty awesome.

That said, performance is absolute GARBAGE. I've dropped nearly all the settings as low as they can go out of necessity. I can generally play a few missions with minimal but irritating freezes but within an hour or two the game crashes entirely. There are also semi-regular connection issues which can really screw up your run. Clearing the shader caches regularly helps but this is ridiculous.

I will keep playing because this game soothes an itch I've had for a while, but I wouldn't recommend it until the performance gets fixed.

This is a really fun cozy survival game with a nice little story. it's a little railroaded at first but that's the tutorial. If the description sounds interesting to you I highly recommend giving this game a go.

i rarely play these types of games so i don't have any comparisons, I'm really not much for multiplayer, but i'm hooked on Darktide. It's my go-to for relatively mindless and wanton violence. I feel like the maps are well made and combat is fun. I haven't had any issues with other players, the matching seems pretty good. all in all i recommend this for a good dose of ultraviolence, for the Emperor, of course.

I like this game and really want to love it, but every single time I've tried to play it crashes with no notice, making it unplayable.

I only played 6 hours so far and haven't gotten very far (only gotten the control chip), but that's mostly my own fault. this is an old school game, save often! that said, I LOVE this game. the atmosphere is great, everything is so BIG. this isn't a neon and chrome cyberpunk but concrete and rain cyberpunk. it can be frustrating because there is a lot of empty space and no markers or map. combat tends to be sparse but meaningful, you spend a lot of time just going from place to place, there is a LOT of walking. enemies have little fire control and use up their ammo so kill them stealthily or quickly because you need to scavenge it.

this little story is why I had to write this recommendation now:
sometimes it's hard to tell if you're going where the devs intended or if you've gotten lost somewhere you're not supposed to be. BUT, you find some pretty cool loot way off the beaten path. I spent literal real life minutes just running up a spiral staircase just to see what was there; oh there's a section of broken stairs, well I'll parkour past it, keep running up, the doorways no longer have doors, do I belong here?, keep running up, there aren't even doorways, I cannot belong up here, keep running, oh hey I'm at the top. wait, what's that? a locker? with an awesome machine gun?! yes it is. but the building angles mean I can't just jump down, so more literal minutes of real time spent running back down the stairs. but totally worth it.

this is a whole lot of fun! my only complaint is that the enemy attacks aren't based on your level, at first they are really hard to survive, once you get buffed enough they become pretty easy but I almost stopped playing because I kept dying. aside from that i cannot wait for the full game.

looks really fun, but since it crashes after only 3% of the loading screen I couldn't tell ya. refunded.

Dev response: It's a corrupted save file.
First of all, that's bad programming, I've played tons of EA games and not run into such an issue. secondly, no it isn't because the game crashes BEFORE I get to do ANYTHING, let alone save the game. Devs have just convinced me not to buy any of their products.

I LOVE this game. It appeals very strongly to my autism and desire to destroy things while being very relaxed and relaxing. The first couple of ships are a little slow and tedious but things pick up pretty quickly. The ships are well designed and have a good collection of clutter to help with the immersion. The worst penalty you'll run across is accidentally destroying the heavy items but replaying a ship is easy. I highly recommend this game!
Addition: When they said Giant ships I admit I scoffed a little. But no game has made me feel so small as when I first slid down the hull of the Ocean and went "OMG, that's BIG!" the effort put into the DLCs make them all worth it.

I really want to love this game, but it's just ok. There are a lot of bugs, most notably citizens not going where they're supposed to when they're supposed to. Getting jobs from the staff is a mess, half the time they just never show up. The B&E aspect is fun, unless someone is at home when they should be at work. The combat is lackluster, which I get but it just feels slapped on. There's also the permanent security alert bug, the alert winds down then just resets, over and over and over. I've also run into jobs where the suitcase cannot be found or the very irritating infidelity with multiple people situation. All in all the bugs are frustrating more than game breaking, until they break it. I'm also very disappointed by the vents, they aren't sensible because of the random gen, instead of a fun way to break in from next door they turn into a slog that dumps you in random places so you have to crawl around forever to get out.
It's an ambitious project with a lot of potential and is good for wasting some time but all in all it still feels like it's middle of early access. I do love the work they've put into the atmosphere and detail but giving lots of extra details isn't a replacement for solid code. After you get the basics down it's very simple and gets pretty repetitive. Make sure you read the guide files because the tutorial leaves out a lot. I'd give this a 3/5, recommended bug buggy and repetitive.

I LOVE Desynced! I've wanted to play this sort of game for years and this satisfies that craving. in fairness I am autistic and ADHD and have loved programming for fun since I was a kid. you don't need to be ND or know programming but it helps. the soundtrack is SO good, I tend to turn music off on games, but not this one.
BUT - it is early access (writing this 3 months after release), meaning buggy and incomplete, which can unexpectedly ruin your plans when things don't work the way you'd expect. a lack of clear documentation is a major problem right now and makes it hard to tell what's intended behavior and what's a bug.
this is, currently, not really a base builder automation game like you're used to, it's a logic/programming game with that theme. it's a fun little builder without getting into the behaviors but it's really only half the game and it can get tedious. the simple logistics automation is very flexible but that also means it's can be confusing because it does exactly what you tell it to and is pretty limited in dealing with the unexpected. the behavior system is limited, buggy, and not well documented, but again, it's early access. there are also weird interactions sometimes just due to things that aren't fully implemented. honestly the behaviors is currently kinda broken, half of my behavior building is to prevent looping or breaking and it's still buggy. but that's completely understandable, especially given that they're trying to make a game that doesn't require you to use them. my biggest complaint is the ratio of whining to discussion in the discussion threads, I don't want people to answer my question with complaints but that's not on the devs.
all of that said I really do love this game and can't wait to see what it becomes over time but right now (Nov 2023) it is definitely early access, buggy, and not for everybody - but if you think you'd like this game you'll probably love it.
