Wastelanders breathes a breath of fresh air into a game with asthma. I had around 100 hours of gametime pre-Wastelanders, and while I enjoyed the game, issues were about as subtle as a car alarm. The game felt like it was missing something and it was glaringly obvious what the missing link was. Wastelanders adds a new element and it has been implemented very well. 76 now feels more like a Fallout game, possibly even more than Fallout 4. I recommend giving this game your own try and judge it on that. The game is by no means perfect, but if Bethesda carries on with updates in this manner, we're looking at a strong comeback.
