Great game. Good controls, fantastic art, fun gameplay.

The difficulty is on point in my opinion. It starts off pretty easy and the difficulty progression from boss to boss and area to area is really well done. It's not hard, but not a face roll either. Later bosses took me a couple tries, but as long as you use items it's not hard. I haven't dug into NG+ yet.

It took me roughly 11 hours to finish. Short but sweet. I've continued playing as I want to get 100%. When I beat the final boss there were 4 abilities I hadn't got and there were many items I had got but didn't find the use for yet, so that's neat.

It's linear at first (first 7 bosses) but after that it becomes more chaotic. After the 6th and 7th bosses you will start backtracking a lot more trying to figure out where to go. I will admit, after this point I went over the map many times (after every new ability) trying to figure out where I could use the new abilities.

However, the UI is kinda ♥♥♥♥. I really don't like how the health bar and ammo bar are always the same length and don't show numbers. You have to open the menu to see numeric values. And there are tons of upgrades to increase health and ammo, but they just are displayed terribly. The menus also aren't great. I wouldn't say they are horrible, but something just feels... bad.

The biggest con though is the map. It has no separation of areas even though in the world certain areas are given specific names and have themes. This makes the backtracking so much worse because it's harder to remember which area is which on the map. Easily my #1 complaint.

8/10, would be 9 with better map.

EDIT: They patched it and updated the map and fixed a few other small gripes.

I would now give this a 9/10 and have to give a shout out to the devs listening to player feedback. Always nice to see.

Great art style, controls are tight, and the level design is nice too. What I like about the level design is how many little shortcuts or additional paths there are.

If you enjoy this type of game then you will enjoy this one. Definitely worth the price.

This game is excellent. Great art and sound fits well. Writing is hit or miss, I liked it but it got annoying at times. Gameplay is great. I've beat the normal ending in around 11-12 hours, still working on the true ending. Great mix of difficulty in the levels, some are fairly easy, some pretty challenging especially in some of the optional levels.

9/10

Played on Valve Index:

Controls are a buggy mess. Grabbing things is overly sensitive so you have to play with your hand wide open to not accidentally grab things. Teleport and turn are assigned to two different thumbsticks with no option for it to be the same stick. If you use control "Type 2" to swap the teleport and turn then the game also swaps the crouch button which makes it the same as the menu button, this leads to a super annoying bug where if you open the menu and close it you are permenantly crouched, only way to fix is exit task or swap control schemes.

The physics feel off. This is most apparent in the very first task where you need to use spatulas as hands. Things stick, flip, fly, and it just feels off.

The tasks: This is where the game was supposed to shine. The first task plays like a simon says, the second task plays more like an escape room (I'll admit this one at least gave me TM vibes, and being a fan of the show helped me clear this one easier), the finale task of the first episode was okay, kinda felt in spirit of TM.

Now the fourth task "Little Eggy Eggy Eggy" is where I got very dissapointed. This was the first task to actually feel like a creative TM inspired task. I tried so many different things and NOTHING would work the way expected. So to give background, the task is: there is a pipe hanging at roughly head level with a big drop to the ground and a lot of open space in front. You need to drop an egg through the pipe and have it land in a frying pan but you want it to cover as much distance as possible.

Alright, so first thing I did was look all over the place, and I found some pipe pieces that are identical to the one set up already. Cool. I also found some bigger pipe pieces that LOOK like they would fit perfectly over. It was a plumbers dream. Until the game won't let you connect them....
Or how about leaning things so the egg rolls down? Did I mention how loosey goosey the physics were? I could never get stuff to stay right. This is also possibly because of the controls and fighting with them the whole time.
Oh, and at one point the frying pan you need to put the egg in got stuck in the table so I had to restart the task.

Now for the Taskmaster fans: The format of the game is completely different. There are no other competitors and the way your tasks are judged is very... gamey, and not TM like. The only good parts for fans is the voice acting and writing.

Overall: Some of these issues can be fixed like the controls, and the physics. Some are just design choices that feel okay for a generic VR game, but feel like a let down for a Taskmaster fan.

I will update this if/when patches come out.

The game is great already and getting better. Dev interaction with the community is a huge plus. Definitely worth the money.

I'd been waiting for this game for years after playing a demo a long time ago. This was worth the wait. Amazing game. Puzzles feel great to solve. I finished the main game in about 10-11hrs, but there is so much left to do. There's still islands I haven't been to, secrets left to solve. Absolutely worth the price.

S-Tier Metroidvania right here. Worth the price. Great puzzles, amazing details in the visuals/sound, satisfying exploration, can't praise the game enough.

Fun mechanics. The procedural generation works well.

My only complaint is the UI isn't the greatest and not all mechanics are explained well. After playing three rounds I still have no idea what Mana is or how it works. I've seen it referenced a few times but no clue what it does.

Definitely worth the price though if you are a fan of TD games.

Edit: The dev has since added to the tutorial/UI to better explain Mana. The dev has shown quick response time, listening to players, and passion to their project. That is worth supporting.

Amazing. Pure gold. The story made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me sad, it made me happy. It was a great story. The main game took me around 26hrs, with some afk and slowness. So I'd say on average a playthrough would be 20-25hrs. I took me until around 36hrs to get the true ending. More afk time but also... I recommend using a guide if you go for true ending. Which I do highly recommend. If you like the game enough to beat the main story, it's totally worth it to go through for the true ending.

I'm stoked for DLC.
