Minor spoilers

The gameplay essentially consists of randomly exploring an area, pressing a button on your controller, getting non sequitur "hints" (that don't really do much besides add more confusing mess to the lore), and then dying and doing it all again. Instead of the game letting you explore in your own time, it forces you to restart the loop after a certain amount of time. This whole gameplay loop screams "let's pad the runtime of the game", instead of letting me play it.

While I dig the astronomy of it all, I don't get to enjoy it before I have to rush off and start over again. Yes, I understand the hints stay on the ship. But being forced to explore for a few minutes at a time is not a fun gameplay loop. Unlike true exploration games where you have a world at your disposal, this game has frustrating mechanics to force you into a rush. (Think of the salt pouring in Sunless City).
