Punishing, yet Rewarding.
Darkest Dungeon is a fantastic Dungeon Crawler in its base form. But it's so much more than that. The game revolves around re-building your Hamlet and forming a roster of heroes to challenge everything the dungeons can throw at you. The stronger and more expansive your Hamlet becomes the easier it is to improve your heroes, but the harder the dungeons become to compensate. So the challenge never diminishes, and the game remains consistently fantastic.

If you enjoy a challenge, and are prepared to fail several times before you succeed this game could be for you.

Gameplay
Turn based combat was never dead, as much as some claim it was. And this is a prime example of exactly how turn based combat is the king of deep tactical combat.

Art Style
A unique, spectacular art style which extenuates the dark, dismal fate which awaits your unfortunate heroes.

Sound
Brilliant Narration is the real champion here, but the sound effects are powerful enough to not be outshone.

Overall, this is definitely a game worth picking up, one of the true Early access success stories.

EDIT:
After playing a bit longer I've realised I was waaaay too glowing in my recommendation of this game. The end game is grindy, repetitive and artifically lengthened when it really didn't need to be. Still worth playing, I've got 40 hours of fun out of it, but the end game needs some serious work.
