Simple, Calming, Refreshing experience.
Love the mood, simplicity of it.
Don't need to spend hours grinding.

Take it slow, few play every day.
Heals the body and soul.

Let's take it for what it is : a glorified tech demo.

TLDR : Can't say anything besides it has better assets combined with a good showcase of NVidia 2025 state-of-the art.

However, The attempt is trying to fit a ball through a square hole : HL2's Lighting stays mostly static so using raytracing is generally a waste of power, time and effort to keep it fluid, sharp and ghosting-free. Dynamic lights have been added to
shooting system and explosions, but it never feels relevant, and often overbrightens the image. DLSS is required for most configurations if you intend to keep it at a decent framerate.

Could have been achieved in a non-raytraced flavor with the same result (and even better if all knobs weren't set to 11), with a way better framerate.

Can't understand the huge size of the download though for only two levels.

Verdict is Good for tech enthusiasts, not for someone who wants to appreciate the game: You're better Better off playing this classic in its HL2 update flavour.

This is really something.

I've re-started this game 3 times, because I felt lost every time. And sometimes I was angry, sad, desperate about this: being stranded in a zone where It was way above my level, I couldn't go back. I cried a lot before giving up.

Still....

This game is amazing, it's being lost in a desperate world, full of poetry, wandering, understanding what the hell happened, what's expected of you. Then you start finding breadcrumbs, small clues, and then it becomes clear. And then you can't stop, leaving no stone unturned.

A world full of sadness, yet so beautiful, a game so demanding, yet so fair. I hadn't felt that much immersion and wonder since a long time.

Hollow knight is a gem, that I discarded many times, until I found its true warmth. A game that I have to cross its last gate, but I already know that It will stay in my heart.

I don't want it to finish. Please.

Knowledge-based game, few tools crafted wisely, infiniite possibilities. Relaxing. Makes you forget for a small lapse of time, how horrible is the real world we live in.

Installs Ubisoft connect, requires UAC Elevated privileges, opt outs everywhere : data collection, targeted ads. First time user experience is full of checkbox shenanigans revolving about stealing your data so you can see advertisments.

I just wanted to play a game : I am fed up of being ransacked by unnecessary spyware that wants to feed me on targeted advertisments. Uninstalled after 5 minutes.

WoA if you uninstall : double check that Ubisoft connect is also deleted (it keeps being installed and run at startup even if you don't have any ubisoft games installed)

Really good game but a lot of repetitions in gameplay phases makes it a bit boring in the late game. Boss fights are pretty dull, except popcorn effect.

Had a great time playing it. Even though in small sessions not to be overfed.

Excellent remake, with a lot of care and dedication on how to respect the original work, while improving the narrative in memorable gameplay sequences.

Such an example of successful remake.

I played this game very late, as I was at thirst for skill demanding games.

Tl;dr version is "I felt I was 13 playing A link to the Past for the first time".

An unforgiving and unforgettable game experience in the depths of learning and personal achievement. The game starts by an incredibly hard trial after few minutes to tell you its message : you deserve to play It but before that the game deserves your commitment. And it's a matter of trust between the game and you : you will face incredibly hard trials and die hundreds of times, but each failure is just a lesson to set you on the tracks of perfection.

As time passes and you progress into the game, you become enlightened : you can read the enemy's movement and adapt to the situation. Their movements become predictable, and you can dance with them unharmed, before striking a lethal blow.

And you become more confident, at least until the next empty great hall, mist curtain or dungeon entrance. You thus proceed with caution, and your confidence now turns to prudence, and as you proceed through the unknown you wonder what kind of fiends awaits further down.

The game feels a long rough path along an incredibly sloping difficulty curve, balanced by extremely rewarding moments of victory, contemplation of the massive architectures, deadly creatures and titanous adversaries. A journey through the lands of the dead, ancient gods and abyssal creatures : from ancient castles to the depths of the abyss, through fallen cities of the past, and up to the skward palaces of the gods.

Do not expect a game where you will passively observe your character in all his might, but expect be given all this might and learn to unleash the power by yourself.

(EN) A really good story, brilliantly told in first person, neither too short or too long, unforgettable and touching : Absolutely Recommended.

(FR) Une très belle histoire, racontée avec brio dans un jeu à la première personne, ni trop longue ni trop courte, à la fois inoubliable et touchante : Recommandée à tout prix !
